Rhythm or īqā‘ is a rule on which every literary or artistic work is based and it stands out in the Qur’an as a sublime literary example. One of the outstanding features of the Qur’an’s expressive styles is its harmonious and rhythmic changes, in such a way that one feels liveliness in its phonemes and words and a well-calculated rhythm rules over the course of speech, which, besides its harmony and beauty, it moves along with the meaning.
This research is intended to figure out what tools the Qur’an has used to make this exclusive rhythm and what factors have made it harmonious. The article tries to find the factors creating rhythm in the Qur’an. Furthermore, after exploring into this term in literary and phonetic discourses, it introduces, analyzes, and compares five elements of phonetic system, balance and equilibrium, proportion, recurrence, and alteration as the most important factors creating the Qur’anic rhythm. Accordingly, the Qur’anic interval has a significant role in harmonizing the verses and incorporates various aspects of the rhythm’s factors.
According to a generally accepted view, the music of the Qur’an is of an internal type and not external, which is the outcome of cadence and rhyme; and the Qur’an’s rhythms are of the advanced type as the relations between its elements are sensual-rational and the perceiver is to enjoy a certain level of intellectual and cultural maturity.

The reports extant in the oldest written books on the Qur’an’s spelling (such as Abū ‘Amr al-Dānī’s al-Muqni‘), introduce the application of different spelling styles of a particular word in certain positions of the Qur’an’s text as enjoying methodical and constant rules throughout the Qur’an, to such an extent that it seems that these rules are to be followed while copying the text of the Qur’an. However, comparison of many reports with various evidences from the oldest copies of the Qur’an extant from the early three Islamic centuries contradicts the reports presented in these books and shows that the scribes of the early copies of the Qur’an were not unanimous in the spelling of some of the Qur’an’s words. On the other hand, the study of the writing rules in the pagan figures and written texts of the first century of the post-Islamic period indicates that writing copies of the Qur’an in such instances as occasional i‘jām (marking a consonant with diacritical points) of some similarly scribed letters, omission or retainment of the middle alif in words, drawing the feminine tā with long tā in circular form, substituting prolonged alif with abbreviated alif are similar to these figures and there has not been a universal (muṭṭaradī) rule in style of i‘jām and spelling specific letters, either in copying the Qur’an or other than that. Therefore, noticing such a practice by the scribes would confirm Farrā‘’s view concerning non-commitment of the early Arab scribes to a single style in copying.

From the viewpoint of William Tisdall the dialogue between Abel and Cain in verses 27-32 of Sūrat al-Mā’ida has been stated in various ways in Jonathan and Jerusalem Targum. He also believes that the burial scene of Abel in the Qur’an is described in Pirke de Rabbi Eli’ezer’s book and verse 32 of Sūrat al-Mā’ida is almost a literal translation of a part of the Mishnah Sanhedrin’s text from Talmud. Organized in a descriptive-analytical method, the present article seeks to examine the exact dating of the above works followed by a critique and assessment of Tisdall’s perspective about the borrowing of the above-mentioned verses from the content of the above books. Studies indicate that the theory of the Prophet’s (S.A.W.) impressionability from Jewish teachers is an ill-considered and uncommon probability which suggests Tisdall’s lack of mastery of the Muslims’ narrative and historic texts. Similarly, the sources that he claims to have been the basis for the above verses have not been mooted in the time of the Prophet (S.A.W.) and dating of some of them is evidently baseless. In verse 23 of Sūrat al-Mā’ida, the Qur’an has stated a concept farther beyond, more general, and more profound than what Mishnah Sanhedrin has pointed out and does not correspond with Tisdall’s perspective.

Development and sublimation, and faring the path of perfection in today’s conditions is regarded an inevitable and definitive requirement for the human societies and this will not be achieved except through planning and devising a guideline for moving toward development. Thus, devising the progress guideline has been taken into consideration by many elites since long time ago. The thinkers in Islamic societies have not been an exception to this rule, either; they can undertake this task proportionate to the Islamic culture by using the Qur’an as the only source of Revealed Words of Allah.
The present paper is intended to identify various kinds of social actions as one of the variants in the process of progress based on the Qur’an’s teachings and has, in this respect, undertaken the Qur’anic study through the methodology of quality investigation and background theory mechanism. In background theory, three types of concentrated, pivotal, and selective coding have been used for classification of the data. On this basis, first, the concepts and categories related to the Qur’anic verses have been extracted and their relation to each other has been explained and finally, a theory on various social actions in the process of progress has been formed. These groups of actions include control, correctional, participatory, cohesive, and emotional actions that would interactively prepare the type of background for progress.

One of the hermeneutic discourses in its general sense is exploration into psychological issues and the impact of the interpreter on understanding the texts. Apart from the differences that the traditional and modern hermeneutists as well as the philosophical hermeneutists—as experts of a branch of modern hermeneutics—have in the properness or improperness of the impact of the interpreter’s presuppositions on understanding the text, whether this difference is real or formal, it is understood in general that the interpreter’s presuppositions do interfere in understanding the text. In the translations that the translators mentioned in this writing have presented, the difference of theological viewpoints and, in contrast, the difference of the explanatory addenda conforming to their theological presuppositions is clearly evident. It is in the philosophical hermeneutics that the interpreter’s mentality and judgment is the precondition for understanding; and in any perception, the interpreter’s presuppositions may inevitably interfere, hence, the possibility of different impressions from the text. Similarly, translation is a succinct interpretation that should be conforming to the source text as far as possible. The point worth deliberation here is that the Qur’an is “a warner to all humans” and “an admonition for all the nations”, neither Shī‘ī, nor Sunnī, nor Wahhabī. In case all the Islamic ideological schools and sects wish to translate the Qur’an on the basis of their own theological presuppositions, serious differences would arise in translations, the intention for translation would be violated, and the goals of translation would not be achieved. It is because explanation and elaboration of the text is upon interpretation rather than on translation, in which the reproduction of the closest meaning and at the same time retaining the source style is what matters.

The Holy Qur’an has brought up the Imamate of Prophet Abraham (A.S.) in verse 123 of Sūrat al-Baqara; so, due to the importance of this issue, its proportion to Sūrat al-Baqara is examined here. While dating Sūrat al-Baqara, the present article, with the use of the intra-textual propositions including context, purpose of the verses and topics, subjects similar to previous sūra, and the extra-textual propositions including sīra reports, the traditions about the order of Revelation, and occasion of Revelation, has found out its time of Revelation in the beginning of the Prophet’s (S.A.W.) arrival in Medina (prior to the Battle of Badr), which was the period of the establishment of the Islamic rule and people’s welcoming Islam. Further on, by studying the Imamate of prophet Abraham (A.S.) and explaining its proportion to the historical circumstances and exigencies of the time of Revelation of Sūrat al-Baqara, it has finally concluded that these verses have been directed toward laying the foundation of Islam by prophet Abraham (A.S.), which would result in the eternalization of Islam as a religion.

The present Iranian society is facing many social, cultural, and economic losses, which is indicative of its distance from the healing prescription of the Qur’an. The problem is that with the expansion of communications and the management of the possessors of money and power, the “globalization of culture” has doubly expedited through the social networks and media and standing against it with reliance on personal standards and tastes is not possible and requires possessing strategies for social influence of religion from within religion. Thus, this research is intended to extract the cultural strategies of social influence of religion from the Qur’an’s teachings, which has been possible through using the method of analyzing the qualitative content and Granded theory. This research has extracted and presented thirteen cultural strategies of social influence in the Qur’anic teachings, which include: the current culture of the society, similitude and parable, short messages of objective and experiential patterns, travelling and tourism, using history, gradation and continuation in presenting messages, cultural proportion with the addressees, understandability of the messages, explicitness and eloquence of the messages, implicitness of the messages at early stages, preserving the originality of the messages and speaking the same language as the addressee.
