In Mulla Sadra's philosophical system, human being enjoys a specific stance. He is the only contingent being with existential degrees corresponding and conforming to existential degrees and worlds. Mulla Sadra's environmental philosophy can be regarded as based on the principles and rules founding the system, including fundamentality and gradation of existence, particularly the principles of substantial motion and union of the knower and the known, as well as the stages of creation of soul and its relation with body. Such a philosophy can help us to provide ways to explain the relationship between man and nature, according to which environmental crises occurred to the nature can be managed. In the philosophical system of transcendent theosophy, nature is the manifestation and disclosure of a being continually influencing it in its creation and duration, endowed with knowledge, apprehension and consciousness according to its share in the being, and represents the hidden interior and exterior aspects of reality of existence. Therefore, man's interaction with nature as a living thing is totally different from that which is defined in environmental philosophy based on West's philosophy, which believes in an existential unity between man and nature. The present paper seeks to explain and analyze the meaning of man and nature in Mulla Sadra's philosophy and elaborate on their interrelation.

Pleasure is a long-discussed issue in philosophy, because it is the result of soul and its powers which are discussed in philosophy. Therefore, such philosophers as Aristotle, Farabi, Avicenna, and Mulla Sadra have discussed it extensively in their writings. In his various works, Avicenna has scrutinized the problem of pleasure. Having referred to one type of pleasure special for each human power, he regards the apprehension of absolute good as the most delightful thing for intellective soul, which should be achieved by removing and overcoming its obstacles, including soul's negligence over its .

Muslim philosophers believe that imaginal power has a special status, and plays a crucial role in all domains of human life, particularly in acquiring human perfections. It, however, requires several types of control in order to be corrected and preserved. Having an accurate knowledge of the power and its nature, and on the basis of their philosophical considerations, Muslim philosophers have provided several methods to control and train it in order to provide the ground for human perfection, although they have not dedicated a separated chapter to it in their works. The present paper seeks to gather and elaborate on these methods which have only been hinted in these works. Engaging imaginal power in external senses, controlling it by reason power, doing such activities as meditation, concentration and isolation, acquiring such virtues as truthfulness, balancing constitution, invoking and reciting Quranic verses related to controlling (sukhrah) are among these proposed methods.

Muslim thinkers have scrutinized and analyzed the very important issue of revelation and how a prophet received it. Among them, Farabi is the first thinker who systematically analyzes revelation and prophethood. He provides an epistemological explanation for revelation and believes that prophet's acquired intellect receives revealed knowledge and forms realities and intelligible entities with the help of imaginal power, having transcended and attached to active intellect. Considering a role for intuitive power in the process of revelation and explaining the levels of intellects, Avicenna also believes that prophet receives intellectual realities and forms them with the help of imaginal power. Similarly, Mulla Sadra believes that active intellect actualizes potential intellect. He believes that the revealed are distinct form the unrevealed in terms of the quality of receiving intelligibles, their quantity and how they join to the origin of intelligibles. He uses intuitive power and sacred intellect to explain the distinction. These three philosophers believe that prophet is the "recipient" of revelation, who receives sciences through intellects and then without intermediary, having joined to or united with the invisible world.

God's knowledge of everything other than Himself has been the subject of many scientific researches in terms of "pre-creation" and "post-creation" knowledge, in which the attribute of "God's knowledge of multiple creatures before their creation" has been more taken into consideration since it is an attribute of essence while Divine essence is indivisible and completely pure. Such a consideration is because of the fact that the affirmation of God's pre-knowledge of multiple creatures seems paradoxical at first and results in several views in this regard, while His essence is indivisible. Evaluating and criticizing their precedent thinker's view, Mulla Sadra and Ibn Arabi have elaborated on the quality of such Divine knowledge. The present paper takes for granted the "Divine pre-knowledge", in the light of which it tries to explain its quality from the view point of these two thinkers. The findings which are based on the logical analysis of Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra's sayings indicate that their views are similar in terms of most principles and conclusions and different in terms of methods of explanation. Like Ibn Arabi, Mulla Sadra believes that God's per-knowledge is united with His essence or rather they are the same and that the justification of multiplicity in indivisibility of essence is contingent upon the explanation of "eternal essences" which is a term used by Ibn Arabi is his discussion of Divine pre-knowledge

In Sunni Islam, the school of Deobandism emerged from the theological school of Maturidism about two centuries ago, claiming to follow the theology of the latter as its most important characteristics. The claim, however, is challenged when their theological issues are compared. The comparison of their analysis of monotheism and polytheism shows that Deobandism has different views from those of Maturidism, part of which are due to its semantic foundation for applying the concept of "polytheism" to anything doubtful. A descriptive-analytical survey was conducted to find the amount of change in Deobandism's view about the semantic foundations of monotheism and polytheism, showing that its followers believe in the conceptual development in the definition of polytheism and its types, and focus on eliminating heresy on the basis of anything doubtful of polytheism and on extending the instances of polytheism to any act which was not previously regarded as polytheism.

Coherentism theory is a famous alternative theory for foundationalism in the structure of justification. The major objection to coherentism theory of justification is the isolation objection. Using an analytical approach, the present paper studies the objection which is mainly based on the fact that the theory allows for justified beliefs with no justifying relation with reality because it holds that justifying a belief is only a function of its coherence with other beliefs, while some justified beliefs can be supposed with not justifying relation with reality. Therefore, the theory requires no relation between belief and reality. Having mentioned two main responses to the objection, it proves that they are incomplete. It also analyzes the objection and proves that it results from the theory's internalism, indicating that coherentism and foundationalism have similar position about the objection. Accordingly, foundationalism is addressed by the objection as well. Finally, it tries to defend internalist theories against the objection.

The study of propositional and non-propositional approaches about revelation is one of the important issues in its explanation. Among the existing approaches, Mulla Sadra's approach is particularly significant because it takes account both the propositional and non- propositional aspects of revelation. This approach is very important compared with other approaches that have only considered one aspect of revelation. In Christian theology, there are two general propositional and non-propositional approaches to the explanation of revelation. According to the first approach, the revelation is a set of awareness-creating propositions about God. According to second approach, however, revelation is regarded as God’s act through which He reveals Himself. The contradiction and conflict between these approaches and the critiques made of each indicate the necessity of a new approach toward the explanation of revelation, not found in Christian theology. The present paper seeks to prove that Mulla Sadra’s approach is a new one in which both the propositional and non-propositional aspects of revelation have been taken into consideration. This approach can be considered as the approach of "meta-propositional revelation" because it is based on the principles of ontology, epistemology, anthropology and linguistics, and relates propositional and non-propositional aspects.

Avicenna and Maimonides are philosophers of religion, who were concerned about rational affirmation of their religious beliefs. Based on his Islamic view, Avicenna accepts bodily and spiritual resurrection, but has two different approaches to their acceptance. He accepts bodily resurrection not by argument but because of his faith in the Word of God, and proves spiritual resurrection by argument. He provides spiritual exoteric interpretation of resurrection and all its characteristics and attributes, and believes that pleasure and pain is eternal, belonging to the soul. It is the soul that experiences happiness or unhappiness after separating from body. The ultimate pleasure is looking at the essence of God and angels. In the same vein, Maimonides provides arguments to prove spiritual resurrection and believes in punishment and reward, and hereafter spiritual pleasure and pain. He holds that the ultimate pleasure is seeing Our Sheikh, interpreted as knowledge. The present paper seeks to compare these two philosophical views, one based on Islam and the other on Judaism.

The theory of coming into being through perpetual duration (eternal creation) was provided by Mirdamad about the issue of temporality and eternity of the universe. He believed that the attribute of "eternality" is specific to eternal existence of the most High God, and the existence of every creature (whether immaterial or material) is precedented by non-existence through perpetual duration and qualified by coming into being through perpetual duration. Subsequent philosophers like Mulla Hadi Sabzevari understood and interpreted coming into being through perpetual duration on the basis of causal relationship between degrees of being, in which the non-caused precedes the existence of the caused in the level of existence of cause, and admitted that attributing such a coming into being to the caused does not contradict with eternity of the non-caused. On the other hand, some statements made by Mirdamad to explain and clarify his theory indicate that such interpretations do not refer to what he meant by coming into being through perpetual duration; rather, he meant actual preceding non-existence which precedes the existence of the universe without being qualified by any real or imaginary quantity and causes separable posteriority for the existence of every creature from the existence of creator, not temporal preceding non-existence because non-existence through perpetual duration contradicts with the existence of consequent and is generally removed and negated by generating the existence from generator. The present paper rereads and reanalyzes the theory of coming into being through perpetual duration in order to elucidate it and prove the contradiction between Mulla Hadi Sabzevari's interpretation of coming into being through perpetual duration and what Mirdamad really meant by it.
