    زمینه و هدف
    کاهش شکست ها در فرایند کاشت ایمپلنت های دندانی از جمله موضوعاتی است که همواره مورد توجه محققان بوده است. هدف از انجام این مطالعه، مقایسه اثر بیومکانیکی دو جنس مختلف ایمپلنت دندانی پس از کاشت و بارگذاری در استخوان فک بود.
    روش بررسی
    یک مدل سه بعدی از فک پایین توسط نرم افزار MIMICS 10.01 طراحی شد. از روی مدل به دست آمده، بخش انتهایی فک پایین در نرم افزار CATIA V5 طراحی گردید و فرایند دریلینگ بخش کورتیکال آن به کمک شبیه سازی با روش تحلیل اجزای محدود در نرم افزار DEFORM-3D V6.1 انجام شد. سپس مدل سه بعدی حفره ایجاد شده از محل دریل شده استخراج گردید و یک مدل ایمپلنت دندانی ITI که در نرم افزار CATIA V5 طراحی شده بود، داخل آن قرار داده شد. فضای باقیمانده بین ایمپلنت و حفره ایجاد شده به عنوان استخوان کورتیکال تازه تشکیل شده در محل دریلینگ، پس از گذشت 6 هفته از کاشت ایمپلنت تعیین شد و خواص مکانیکی استخوان جدید به نرم افزار DEFORM-3D V6.1 وارد گردید و بارگذاری بر سطح دو ایمپلنت با جنس های تیتانیوم خالص و زیرکونیوم -5/2% نایوبیوم اعمال شد.
    یافته ها
    تغییرات حجمی پدید آمده در استخوان کورتیکال تازه تشکیل شده در اطراف ایمپلنت تیتانیوم خالص و زیرکونیوم -5/2% نایوبیوم به ترتیب برابر با 238/0 و 242/0 درصد به دست آمد. همچنین، میزان حرکت ایمپلنت ها در داخل استخوان فک برای جنس تیتانیوم خالص 00514/0 و برای زیرکونیوم -5/2% نایوبیوم معادل 00538/0 میلی متر بود.
    نتیجه گیری
    نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد که از نظر بیومکانیکی، ایمپلنت دندانی با جنس تیتانیوم خالص شرایط مناسب تری را در استخوان فک نسبت به جنس زیرکونیوم -5/2% نایوبیوم ایجاد می کند.

    زمینه و هدف
    هدف از این مطالعه طراحی چک لیست و تعیین میزان رضایتمندی اعضاء هیات علمی و دانشجویان از این روش، در مقایسه با روش معمولی global rating برای ارزیابی مهارت های بالینی دانشجویان ترم 7 دندانپزشکی در درس بیماری های دهان و صورت عملی بوده است.
    روش بررسی
    ابتدا چک لیست، در جلسات بحث گروهی متخصصان طراحی شد. سپس روایی و پایایی آن به وسیله ضریب CVI و بازآزمایی ارزیابی شد. دانشجویان (66 نفر) در دو گروه، با یکی از دو روش چک لیست و روش معمول global rating ارزیابی شدند. در پایان دوره میزان رضایتمندی ارزیابان و دانشجویان با آزمون ویلکاکسون و من ویتنی و میانگین نمرات دانشجویان با آزمون Paired T test تحلیل گردید.
    یافته ها
    روایی محتوایی کل چک لیست براساس ضریب CVI 88/0 و ضریب پایایی ان 9/0 بود. میزان رضایتمندی ارزیابان از دو روش مورد مطالعه تفاوت معنی داری نداشت (Wilcoxon P=0.06). علیرغم فقدان اختلاف معنی دار در میزان رضایتمندی دانشجویان، روش چک لیست بیشتر مورد پذیرش آن ها بود. میانگین نمرات دانشجویان در روش چک لیست برابر 61/9±69/89 و در روش global rating برابر 85/10±27/86 بود ولی این اختلاف معنی دار نبود (06/0P≤).
    نتیجه گیری
    باتوجه به رضایت بالاتر دانشجویان از روش چک لیست و توجه بیشتر به اجزای مورد ارزیابی و عینی تر بودن این روش و همچنین با توجه به عدم اختلاف معنی دار نمرات در دو روش به نظر می رسد که روش چک لیست روش مناسبی برای ارزیابی عملکرد دانشجویان می باشد.

    زمینه و هدف
    یکی از روش های موثر در کاهش شیوع پوسیدگی، آموزش سلامت دهان است. هدف این مطالعه ارزیابی تاثیر دو مداخله آموزشی در رابطه با پیشگیری از پوسیدگی زودرس کودکی بر عملکرد خود اظهار والدین کودکان 5-2 ساله دریافت کننده درمان دندانپزشکی تحت بیهوشی عمومی بود.
    روش بررسی
    در این مطالعه مداخله ای 37 زوج کودک و مادر در دو گروه مداخله شامل گروه پمفلت و گروه پمفلت همراه با یادآور ارزیابی شدند. پرسشنامه استاندارد در دو نوبت در آغاز مطالعه و سه ماه پس از انجام مداخلات، توسط مادران تکمیل شد. فرم معاینه وضعیت دهان و دندان کودکان، شامل شاخص بهداشت دهان ساده شده، وضعیت پوسیدگی دندان، و وجود ضایعات سفید، قبل از شروع درمان دندانپزشکی و سه ماه بعد از درمان تحت بیهوشی، برای کلیه کودکان تکمیل شد. در این فاصله زمانی در یکی از گروه ها یادآوری به صورت تماس تلفنی هر ماه یکبار صورت می گرفت. نتایج درنهایت به منظور مقایسه پاسخ ها در پیش و پس آزمون مورد آنالیز آماری قرار گرفت. از نرم افزار SPSS V22 برای ورود اطلاعات و آزمون های آماری Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test و Mann-Whitney Test استفاده شد.
    یافته ها
    مقایسه هر یک از گروه ها قبل و بعد از مداخله نشان داد که در هر دو گروه توانایی خود اظهار مادر در رابطه با وادار کردن کودک به دوبار مسواک زدن در روز و نیز دفعات مسواک زدن کودک بیش از یک بار در روز به طور معنی داری افزایش یافته است (001/0=P و 03/0=P). شاخص بهداشت دهان ساده شده بعد از مداخلات بین دو گروه تفاوت معنی داری نداشت. اما در هر دو گروه سه ماه پس از مداخلات به طور معنی داری کاهش یافته بود (003/0=P). میانگین تعداد white spot در ابتدا و انتهای مطالعه در هر دو گروه به طور معنی داری کاهش داشت. در زمینه عملکرد خود اظهار مادران پس از مداخلات تفاوت معنی داری بین دو گروه مشاهده نشد (05/0
    نتیجه گیری
    کاربرد ابزار آموزشی پمفلت با یا بدون یادآوری اثر مشابهی در طول سه ماه بر بهبود عملکرد خود اظهار مادران در خصوص بهداشت دهان و دندان کودکان داشت.

    زمینه و هدف
    مشخص کردن جنسیت از اهمیت اساسی در تعیین هویت برخوردار است. جمجمه شناسی نیز جزیی از این مقوله است و هدف از این مطالعه، اندازه گیری حجم سینوس اسفنویید با استفاده از تصاویر سی تی مولتی اسلایس به منظور تفکیک هویت جنسی بود.
    روش بررسی
    برای اندازه گیری حجم سینوس از تصاویر سی تی اگزیال سینوس های پارانازال با ضخامت اسلایس 3 میلی متر استفاده شد. برای این مطالعه 80 تصویر (40 مرد و 40 زن مسن تر از 18 سال) انتخاب شد. برای سنجش حجم سینوس اسفنوئید بیماران، از نرم افزار Digimizer که مخصوص آنالیز تصاویر دیجیتال است استفاده شد. حجم سینوس با استفاده از فرمول ]حجم= مجموع (ضخامت هر مقطع × مساحت هر مقطع)[ محاسبه شد و از آزمون آماری
    Indipendant T-test برای تجزیه و تحلیل آماری استفاده شد.
    یافته ها
    میانگین حجم سینوس اسفنویید در مردان به صورت معنی داری بیشتر از زنان بود (001/0P=). نقطه برش cm3 35/9 به دست آمد، به این معنا که 4/%63 حجم های اندازه گیری شده بیشتر از نقطه برش، مرد و 1/64% حجم های محاسبه شده کمتر از این مقدار، زن هستند.
    نتیجه گیری
    باتوجه به سطح زیر منحنی راک که 1/65% محاسبه شد حجم سینوس اسفنویید نمی تواند معیار مناسبی برای تفکیک مرد و زن از یکدیگر باشد. به عبارتی پیشگویی از روی نقطه برش cm335/9 درحد 1/65% به واقعیت نزدیک تر است.

    زمینه و هدف
    برای ارایه کامل ترین طرح درمان در حیطه ارتودنسی، نیاز به بررسی مجموعه اسکلتودنتال در تمامی ابعاد می باشد. هدف این مطالعه بررسی توانایی پارامتر های خطی و زاویه ای قابل اندازه گیری در تصاویر پانورامیک به منظور ایجاد ارتباط بین بعد ساژیتال و عرضی در افراد اسکلتال کلاس III بود.
    روش بررسی
    62 بیمار 14-8 ساله (32 بیمار اسکتال کلاسIII و 30 بیمار کلاس I) که کاندید درمان ارتودنسی بودند انتخاب شدند. از آن ها تحت شرایط کنترل شده گرافی پانورامیک و لترال سفالومتری تهیه شد. لند مارک های مختلف بعد عرضی روی آن ها تریس شده و بر اساس آن ها پارامتر های فاصله ای و زاویه ای اندازه گیری شدند. به منظور مقایسه پارامترها بین افراد کلاس I و III، داده های به دست آمده توسط آزمون مقایسه میانگین ها (t-test) آنالیز شدند. آستانه معنی داری در این مطالعه 05/0 درنظر گرفته شد.
    یافته ها
    پارامتر های خطی Co-Co، Go-Go و PTM-PTM در بیماران کلاس III به صورت معنی داری کمتر از افراد کلاس I بودند (P-value به ترتیب 04/0، 04/0، 02/0). اندازه عرض راموس در افراد کلاس III در مقایسه با افراد کلاس I کوتاه تر بود (001/0P<). زوایای Me˄ و N˄ نیز در افراد کلاس III به صورت معنی داری کوچکتر از افراد کلاس I بودند اما زاوایای Go˄ در افراد کلاس III بزرگتر بود (P-value به ترتیب 007/0، 002/0).
    نتیجه گیری
    شاخص ها و پارامتر های به دست آمد که در رادیوگرافی پانورامیک قابل تریس کردن و اندازه گیری بودند. این شاخص امکان مرتبط ساختن بعد عرضی و ساژیتال را در افراد کلاس III امکان پذیر کرده بودند.

    زمینه و هدف
    مطالعه حاضر با هدف بررسی شدت پوسیدگی دندان های شیری و عوامل مرتبط در کودکان 7-5 ساله شهر تهران در سال انجام شد.
    روش بررسی
    این مطالعه توصیفی- مقطعی بر روی تعداد 572 کودک 7-5 ساله (300 دختر و 272 پسر) شهر تهران طبق معیارهای جهانی WHO برای تشخیص پوسیدگی و شاخص decayed missing filled surfaces (dmfs) برای سه دندان C، D و E انجام شد. تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها با استفاده از SPSS ویرایش بیستم و آنالیز Linear Regression روش Backward انجام شد (05/0P≤).
    یافته ها
    در بررسی فراوانی شدت پوسیدگی برحسب تعداد سطح پوسیده در نمونه های مورد مطالعه، شدت پوسیدگی در فک بالا بیشتر از فک پایین بود. همچنین درخصوص میانگین شدت پوسیدگی دندان های C، D و E، دندان C کمترین میانگین سطح پوسیده (47/0 سطح از چهار سطح) و دندان D بیشترین میانگین (58/3 سطح از پنج سطح) را به خود اختصاص داد. براساس نتایج آنالیز رگرسیون خطی، شدت پوسیدگی در پسران (8/2-81/0 CI:95%، 83/1OR=)، کودکانی که هنگام مراجعه به دندانپزشک مشکلات دندانی همراه با درد داشتند (6/1-73/0 CI:95%، 17/1OR=) و کودکانی که فلورایدتراپی انجام نداده بودند
    (6/2-58/0 CI:95%، 64/1OR=) بیش از کودکان متناظرشان بود.
    نتیجه گیری
    شدت پوسیدگی با جنسیت کودک، نوع تنقلات مصرفی، سن شروع مسواک زدن، علت مراجعه به دندانپزشک، انجام فلورایدتراپی و تحصیلات مادر ارتباط معنی داری دارد.

    زمینه و هدف
    دندان های مولر اول دایمی مستعد پوسیدگی، مشکلات اندودنتیک و آنومالی های تکاملی هستند. دندان های مولر اول به شدت تخریب شده با پیش آگهی ضعیف، درمان گر را با مشکل روبرو می کنند. هدف از این مقاله مروری، بررسی راهکارهای جدید در زمینه طرح درمان برای مولرهای اول دایمی به شدت تخریب شده، در دوره دندانی مختلط است.
    روش بررسی
    روش انجام این مطالعه بر مبنای مرور منابع علمی با جستجو در MEDLINE، Web of science و Google scholar بود. از واژگان کلیدی Permanent first molar،Extraction و Orthodontic treatment plan استفاده شد. جستجوها محدود به مقالات انگلیسی منتشر شده پس از سال 2000 بود.
    نتیجه گیری
    فاکتورهای متعددی فرایند تصمیم گیری در مورد مولرهای اول دایمی به شدت تخریب شده را تحت تاثیر قرار می داد که شامل وضعیت ترمیمی دندان، سن دندانی بیمار، میزان کرودینگ و روابط اکلوزالی بود. سن ایده آل برای کشیدن این دندان ها 8 تا 10 سالگی بود. با این حال شواهد موجود در مورد مولرهای اول دایمی به شدت تخریب شده نیازمند مطالعات کلینیکی است.

    زمینه و هدف
    نظر به پیشینه تحقیق و نیاز به چاپ تصاویر CBCT در مواقع ضروری، هدف از این مطالعه مقایسه کیفیت و دقت دو روش چاپ کاغذ و فیلم برای تصاویر CBCT بود.
    روش بررسی
    مطالعه بر روی تصاویر CBCT به دست آمده از 5 بیمار انجام گرفت. پس از دریافت تصاویر، مقاطع کراس سکشنال انتخابی بر روی کاغذ Fotolusio DNP و فیلم AGFA پرینت شد. تصاویر توسط رادیولوژیست فک و صورت خوانده و تعیین کیفیت تصاویر با میزان تشخیص پنج لندمارک آناتومیک بر طبق درجه بندی، از 1 تا 4 در فرم ها ثبت گردید. تعیین میزان دقت نیز با تشخیص محدوده کانال آلوئولار و مقایسه آن با Gold Standard انجام شد. نتایج مشاهدات با آزمون های دقیق فیشر و استقلال کای اسکوئر مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.
    یافته ها
    کیفیت تشخیصی تصاویر در لندمارک های آناتومیک PDL (02/0P=)، لامینا دورا (006/0P=)، محدوده کانال آلوئولار تحتانی (01/0P=) و پرکردگی (006/0P=) تفاوت معنی دار باهم داشت. درمورد لندمارک بوردر تحتانی مندیبل اختلافی بین دو روش چاپ وجود نداشت. در مقایسه دقت تشخیصی نیز بین دو روش تفاوت معنی دار نبود (1P=).
    نتیجه گیری
    کیفیت تشخیصی پرینت فیلم نسبت به کاغذ بهتر بوده ولی دقت تشخیصی این دو روش مشابه می باشد.

    Background And Aims
    Improving dental implantation conditions in order to reduce the failure is always desirable for researchers. The aim of this research is a comparison between two different materials of dental implants from the viewpoint of biomechanical effect after placement and loading in the mandible.
    Materials And Methods
    A 3D model of mandible was designed in the MIMICS 10.01 software. Then by using the obtained model, the end part of the mandible was designed in CATIA V5 software and a drilling operation was performed on cortical bone of the mandible by finite element analysis simulation method in DEFORM-3D V6.1 software. Thereafter, the 3D model of created hole was extract from the drilled site and an ITI dental implant model designed in the CATIA V5 software, was placed in the hole. The space remained between the implant and cavity was considered as newly-formed cortical bone in drilled site after 6 weeks of dental implant placement and the mechanical properties of newly-formed bone were entered to DEFORM-3D V6.1 software. Then a load was applied on the top surface of two dental implant models with the materials titanium and zirconium-2.5% niobium.
    Results
    The emerged volume changes in newly formed cortical bone around Ti and Zr-2.5 Nb dental implants were measured 0.238 and 0.242 percent, respectively. Furthermore, micro motion of Ti and Zr-2.5 Nb dental implants were measured 0.00514 and 0.00538 mm, respectively.
    Conclusion
    The results of this study showed that Ti dental implant creates better conditions than Zr-2.5 Nb dental implant in the mandible.

    Background And Aims
    The objective of this study was the development of a checklist to assessment of clinical skills of students in clinical oral medicine. The second aim is assessment of stake holders’ satisfaction of this checklist in comparison to the routine global rating method.
    Materials And Methods
    The checklist was developed in an expert panel sessions and the validity and reliability of checklist were assessed by CVI and test-retest method respectively. All students (66 people) were assessed in 2 groups, one with developed checklist and another with global rating. At the end of the session the satisfaction’s level of staff and students were analysis with Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test and the mean score of students was analysis with Paired T test.
    Results
    Content validity index (CV I) of checklist was 0.88. Reliability of checklist confirmed with high correlation coefficient (0.9). Staffs’ satisfaction had no significant difference between two methods (Wilcoxon P= 0.06). The mean score of students who assessed by checklist was higher than global rating without significant differences (P=0.06).
    Conclusion
    In according to the higher students’ satisfaction from checklist and more attention to component of assessment and more objectivity of this method and also higher score in checklist, it seems checklist is more proper method for assessing of students’ clinical skills.

    Background And Aims
    One of the most effective methods in reducing the prevalence of caries is oral health education. The aim of this study was to evaluate of two educational interventions regarding prevention of early childhood caries on self-reported practice of parents of 2-5-year-old children receiving dental treatment under general anesthesia.
    Materials And Methods
    In this interventional study, effects of two different educational interventions (pamphlet and pamphlet along with reminder) on self-reported practice of parents of 2-5-years-old children receiving dental treatment under general anesthesia was assessed. Thirty seven couples of children and mothers in two groups were randomly selected. Before and three months after interventions, a standard questionnaire regarding self-reported practice of mothers on prevention of early childhood caries was completed by respondents. Moreover, oral examination including Simplified oral hygiene index (S-OHI), dmft, and white spot lesions were rerecorded at the beginning and three months after interventions. At this time in one of the groups reminder phone calls were made every month. Finally, the answers were scored and data was statistically analyzed to compare the results in pre- and post-test.
    Results
    Comparing each of the groups before and after interventions showed that in both groups there were significant differences in mothers’ perception of perceived ability to make child brush his teeth twice a day (P=0.001), and child’s tooth brushing frequency more than once a day (P=0.03). S-OHI had no significant difference after the intervention between two groups. But in each group had a significant decrease three months after intervention (P=0.003). Also the mean number of white spots showed a significant decrease before and after intervention in each groups. Regarding mothers’ self-reported practice no significant difference was observed between two groups (P>0.05).
    Conclusion
    Using pamphlets along with or without reminder as educational measures has same enhancing effects on mothers’ self-reported practice on oral health of children within three months.

    Background And Aims
    Gender determination is an important step in identification. For gender determination, anthropometric evaluation is one of the main forensic evaluations. The aim of this study is assessment of the sphenoid sinus volume in order to determine sexual identity, using multi-slice CT images.
    Materials And Methods
    For volumetric analysis, axial paranasal sinus CT scan with 3-mm slice thickness was used. For this study, 80 images (40 women and 40 men older than 18 years) were selected. For assessment of sphenoid sinus volume, Digimizer software was used. The volume of sphenoid sinus was calculated using the following equation: v=∑ (area of each slice × thickness of each slice). Statistical analysis was performed by indipendant T-test.
    Results
    The mean volume of sphenoid sinus was significantly greater in male gender (P=0.01).The assessed Cut off point was 9/35 cm3, this means, 63.4% of volume assessments greater than cut off point supposed to be male and 64.1% of volumetry lesser than cut off point are female.
    Conclusion
    According to area under Roc curve (1.65%), sphenoid sinus volume is not an appropriate factor for differentiation of male and female from each other, which means predictability of cut off point (9/35 cm3 ) is 65/1% close to reality.

    Background And Aims
    In the field of orthodontics, gaining comprehensive information around dento-skeletal complex is necessary to choose best treatment plan for each patient. The aim of this study was to investigate linear and angular parameters in the panoramic radiographs to find a path to correlate transvers to sagittal dimensions.
    Materials And Methods
    Total number of sixty two, 8-14 years old children who sought for orthodontic therapy were selected (32 skeletal Class III and 30 skeletal Class I). They were exposed to x-ray to obtain the panoramic and lateral views in a controlled condition.     Linear parameters of Co-Co, Go-Go and PTM-PTM were significantly lesser in class III patients than class I ones (P=0.04, 0.04, 0.02 respectively). The ramus width was also lesser in the class III patient. Angular parameters of Me˄ and N˄ also showed the same results (P

    Some traceable linear and angular parameters were found in the panoramic radiographs which had the potential to correlate transverse with sagittal dimension.

    Background And Aims
    This study aimed to assess the severity of tooth decay and related factors in children 5-7 years old, in 2016, in Tehran.
    Materials And Methods
    A descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed on 572 children aged 5-7 years old (300 girls and 272 boys) in public schools in Tehran, Iran. Severity of dental caries (number of decayed, missing, filled surfaces) recorded for C, D and E teeth according to WHO criteria. Data analysis was performed by Backward Linear Regression Analyses using SPSS 20 (P≤0.05).
    Results
    Assessment of dental caries severity according to the number of decayed surfaces showed generally higher figures in upper jaw. The order of average severity of carious teeth was C, E and D from low to high in both jaws. According to the results of Linear Regression Analysis, severity of dental caries was more than other children in boys (OR=1.83, 95%CI: 0.81-2.8), those visited dentist due to dental problems associated with pain (OR=1.17, 95%CI: 0.73-1.6), and those without fluoride therapy (OR=1.64, 95%CI: 0.58-2.6) in C, D and E teeth.
    Conclusion
    Gender, level of mother's education, type of snack consumption, start age of tooth brushing, reason for dental visit and fluoride therapy affected severity of tooth decay.

    Background And Aims
    The first permanent molar is susceptible to caries, endodontic complications and developmental anomalies. Compromised teeth with poor prognosis caused clinician to face dilemmas. The aim of this review article was to assess recent guidelines on the treatment planning of compromised first permanent molars in mixed dentition period.
    Materials And Methods
    The design of the study was based on review of literature by searching the MEDLINE, Web of science and Google scholar. Key words (permanent first molar, extraction, treatment plan) were used. These searchs were limited to the english articles published after the year 2000.
    Conclusion
    A number of factors influenced decision-making process regarding compromised first permanent molars including the restorative status of the tooth, dental age of the patient, degree of crowding and occlusal relationships. The ideal time for removal of these teeth was 8-9 years of age. However the current evidence for managing compromised first permanent molars demands clinical trials.

    Background And Aims
    According to the research background and need to print CBCT images in case of emergency, this study has been done to compare to quality and accuracy of the two methods of film and paper printing for CBCT images.
    Materials And Methods
    The study of CBCT images taken from 5 patients was done. cross-sectional slices on Fotolusio DNP papers and film AGFA were printed. Afterward, images by maxillofacial radiologist was exmined. Images’ quality were identified and recorded with anatomical, from 1 to 4 on forms. The accuracy was determined by the diagnosis of alveolar canal area and the comparison with the Gold Standard. In order to analyze, the independent chi-square and Fisher exact tests’ results were used.
    Results
    The Images quality in anatomical landmarks consisting PDL (P=0.02), lamina dura (P=0.006), the inferior alveolar canal (P=0.01) and the filling (P=0.006) had a significant difference. For the lower border of the mandible Landmark, there was no difference between the two methods of printing. In comparing the diagnostic accuracy between the two methods there was no significant difference (P=1).
    Conclusion
    The diagnostic quality in film printing is better than paper printing and the diagnostic accuracy is the same in both methods.

    Background And Aims
    Now, oral cancer is considered one of the most important diseases related to oral health. The objective of the present study is to determine knowledge of dental students of dental schools in Isfahan about oral cancer and the comparison of the level of student's knowledge in different years of education.
    Materials And Methods
    The present study is a cross-sectional-analytical one conducted in 2013. The population of the study included dental students of private and state university of Isfahan that 255 students were selected randomly. The data was collected using questionnaire. The data, after being collected, was analyzed using SPSS software program and the descriptive statistical techniques of Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney.
    Results
    From private and public dental schools in Isfahan 56 percent and 44 percent of dental students were involved. Regarding performing routine clinical oral examination, 81% of the participants answered positively, which did not have significant difference among the years of education of the participants(P=0.116). Regarding the examination of the patients with oral lesions, 46% of them answered positively, which the difference between the years of education was highly significant (P≤0.001).
    Conclusion
    The findings of the research indicated that the level of knowledge of dental students of Isfahan City regarding the detection of oral lesions was not sufficient and although students did not perform common examinations for exploring oral cancer, they did not have sufficient knowledge regarding some of the risk factors and oral lesions related to cancer; therefore, it is necessary that a comprehensive curriculum be developed during their education.

    Geriatric is a growing phenomenon which recently rises fast. With increasing age, biological and physiological changes biologic & physiological change occur in different organs. Socioeconomic situation with emerging multiple diseases, disability and changes in oral status can all affect the quality of life of people.
    Materials And Methods
    This study was carried out by reviewing different scientific sources from Pub Med, Google scholar and Iranian articles (SID) from 2005-2016.
    Results
    Oral condition may be according to systemic diseases ore solely. The changes in the hard tissue and soft tissue occur. Each of these changes is the result of damage due to situation people sometimes possible to repair it difficult to return.
    Conclusion
    Nevertheless rising age in global and in Iran have to be consider. Periodic visits are important because they reduce the risk of some diseases, including cancers of the mouth. Also keep teeth and periodontal conditions not only specifically in oral health but more broadly on some systemic diseases such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, etc. are effective.
