Most methods and approaches to learning a second language have emerged after language theories and learning theories. On the basis of these methods, learning a second language is based on teaching the four elements: words, grammar, meaning and culture. Textbooks for teaching Persian language and culture to non-Persian speakers are mostly focused on grammar. Some of these textbooks have been primarily written for teaching grammar and other relevant textbooks are mainly allocated to teaching grammar rules and tasks for grammar improvement and learning assessment.
This study attempts to show what are the basic standards and rules of teaching grammar in the first book of Teaching Persian Language and Culture to non-Persian Speakers, (TPLAC-1). This article analyzes TPLAC-1 from six perspectives: 1) the number of grammatical points; 2) pedagogy; 3) contextual orientation; 4) compliance with the proper order of grammatical points; 5) the activities of each grammatical point; and 6) the amount of production and diagnostic activities.
The results show that TPLAC-1 is based on a grammar-oriented and non-communicative approach. The overall coherence of the book is weak regarding the selection and arrangement of grammatical points, and little space has been dedicated to the context and usage of grammatical points in the relevant content and activities.

This research uses a descriptive-analytic method in order to identify, compare and analyze topical orientations of university textbooks in “Curriculum Studies” in Iran and other countries of the world. Using purposive sampling, 28 English books and 28 Persian books were selected from among all books published domestically and internationally with the title “curriculum studies” and “curriculum”. Data collection was accomplished by using a checklist derived from the topics of an Iranian encyclopedia of curriculum. The findings showed that in Persian books, there was more emphasis on traditional topics of curriculum studies, such as curriculum theories, curriculum planning with especial focus on content selection and organization, as well as formative and final evaluations, while the relevant English books have a more extensive topical distribution and deal with topics such as modern views and discourses, future curriculum challenges, technology-oriented curriculum, policy-making for curriculum, teacher education, curriculum for content fields, curriculum planning for various education levels, and introduction of the famous figures in this field.

The present study was conducted to trace the progress of students discussions in Moodle forums and investigate the capacity of the forums in obviating the problems that students faced in doing their activities in the undergraduate course of Consecutive Interpreting. The problems that are discussed in this article were related to the process-oriented activities of listening comprehension, note-taking and role play whose proper fulfillment is of prime importance in social constructivism. To conduct the study, a blended learning environment was used in the sense that for a whole semester, the face-to-face class was complemented with an online class designed on the Moodle e-learning platform. The study revealed that although the forum which was designed for small groups in role play activity was not well-received, the other two public forums which were designed for listening comprehension and note-taking activities were welcomed and participated by all the students. In the two public forums, students got into interactions with one another and used the forums as a site for solving their problems and proposing suggestions. The study suggests that an online class which is designed, guided and supervised properly by the instructor and used as a complement to a face-to-face class would have the potential to facilitate constructive interactions among learners through which they can solve their problems. This, in turn, could promote the feeling of responsibility and autonomy among learners.

The purpose of this study is to compare Entrepreneurship Curricula (EnCs) for undergraduate programs in social and behavioral sciences in the University of Tehran (UT) and the developed universities of the world. This research uses documentary analysis method with a comparative approach. The target population includes universities that are pioneer in the field of entrepreneurship according to the latest ranking of the world’s leading institutions. The universities that were chosen as sample are Pennsylvania, Maryland, California and Harvard; these universities have been chosen because of the relative wealth of documentary information available. The EnCs of these universities were compared with the EnC that is used in the UT's undergraduate program of social and behavioral sciences. John Stuart Mill's Method of Agreement and Difference was used as research model. This research reviewed and compared the agreements and differences between the main elements of EnC (i. e., objectives, content, teaching-learning strategies, evaluation) in these universities in order to improve the curriculum of Entrepreneurship Education (EE) in the UT that is published in a book, titled The Foundations of Entrepreneurship Education. The results showed that the curriculum of the EE in the UT is different from that of the developed universities studied. In the developed universities, the main elements of EnC are designed on a competency-based approach, whereas in the UT, curriculum planning is based on a traditional and subject-centered model. Regarding the "objectives" element, EnC of the UT emphasizes on the learning levels of Knowledge and understanding; in "content" element, EnC of the UT is designed to give knowledge to the students and make them familiarized with a series of theoretical materials in line with the "objectives". Regarding the element of "teaching-learning strategies" in the UT, with its traditional model, there is no appropriate opportunity for entrepreneurial learning; and finally, regarding the element of "evaluation", EnC of the UT emphasizes on quantitative methods and final exam.

University textbooks are one of the most important and accessible instructional materials which constitute an important role in the development and quality of teaching programs, and in the identification of teaching content and policy. One of the ways to evaluate university textbooks is the content analysis, which provides textbooks writers, language programmers and the relevant directors with a good means to design a textbook. This study attempted to offer some suggestions to improve the potential weaknesses of the PNU General English textbook through evaluating it. To this aim, content analysis was employed and Littlejohn's (2011) framework was used for the evaluation. Results revealed some strengths and weaknesses of the textbook and offered some suggestions to improve the content in line with the intended goals and academic principles. In fact, results revealed that the language content, vocabulary and grammar, exercises and activities, and layout of the textbook need to be revised to improve teaching English. The results of the study can provide a good basis for revising and adapting this textbook.
