A spring is an important landscape in Iranian traditions. The formation and consistency of the spring landscape are reflected by legendary beliefs about its source, mythical names, liturgical -narrative carving on the cliffs adjacent to the spring, mythological and authoritative architectures, and different social customs held in particular times.
Land comes to existence when humans start assigning it a special meaning based on their experience or interpretation or when it turns to a landmark for locating a place. Land with many key landmarks in a system forms a single entity known as a country. Therefore, the country refers to land having an identity, symbols, and the signs of human life
Cheshmeh Ali in Rey is a natural entity flowing from the cliff to the bottom of the foothills. It is formed when the layers of the earth at that point find a way to the upper water tables.
On the top of this spot, there is the Parthian Fortress, which is still a mystery, and today is known by this name. This suggests the importance of this place for its people before the advent of Islam. It was named Ali based on the tradition of the Islamic period. This signifies two points: first, it shows the importance of the land for the inhabitants who chose the name of the first leader of the Shiite, and the second, it shows how the ancient Iranian beliefs are associated with the name of Imam Ali (PBUH) and how changing the religion of Iranians influenced the name of place. During Islam, many of the ancient Iranian beliefs associated with Izadmehr were blessed with Ali’s name not to be destructed (Such as Cheshmeh Ali in Damghan and Morteza Ali in Tabas).
One can also use the name of the source in the same way. The ritual of washing the carpet in the spring to be bright and shimmering (Dehkhoda dictionary), and belief in some features in the spring water, is another evidence reflecting the identity of the landscape of Cheshmeh Ali in Rey.
Unfortunately, these days there is news about the disruption of water due to the construction of the subway. This is quite saddening because the spring has a potential for reflecting and protecting Iran's identity. Therefore, it should not be endangered by some small benefits such as subway. The survival of the land of Iran and Iranian landscape depends on its symbols, including Cheshmeh Ali.

In Iranian culture and art, a garden is an integral part of Iran's identity reflecting how humanbeings have interacted with nature. Planting and vegetation designs are an important part of a garden. Since vegetation is a decaying element of a garden, its replacement and restoration as an architectural monument is not quite easy. Therefore, examining the history of the garden and the study of its initial patterns are of particular importance. Therefore, this study is an attempt to investigate vegetation and changes in the initial patterns of planting in the Golshan garden in Tabas. In order to investigate the evolution of the planting design, we gathered the data through field observations by a gardening specialist and interviews with elderly people, local historians, and experts. The primary data were collected from available sources. During the field observations, the type of trees and its location in the garden were examined. The observation was carried out to the extent that their cultivation patterns emerged. Through this historical study, the original garden pattern and its vegetation were discovered. The emerged patterns can help us identify plants not aligned with the original garden landscape and restore and preserve the originality of the garden.

About two decades have passed since the idea of setting up an institution to study and prepare urban development plans, in particular, the comprehensive plan of Tehran and improving the status of management and planning of these projects in the country. Institution was a seedling that could become a tree in the future of Tehran and other metropolises of the country. But today, as expressing this experience, only a lost name of it is remembered in the management and urban development planning system; lost in history, despite being included in the document of Tehran's comprehensive plan as the focal and precious point of this document, it has been forgotten.
The present paper tries to study the process of the institution formation from the beginning to its dissolution, through a descriptive-analytical method and documentation, and by using the pathological cognition of future opportunities and threats, it presents an image of the intended institution for the management and planning of urban development plans. It has also been attempted to identify the necessity of establishing an institution, by studying the vacuum created due to the lack of its existence during the various periods of planning and preparing urban development plans for Tehran. The results of the research show that the establishment of an institution in Tehran is an urgent necessity that will eventually be restored again one day. The key question will be when will the institution be formed and what kind of an institution will it be? A question that will be answered in the future.

The Industrial Heritage concept has been used since 1950. That was a new concept but quickly accepted in urban projects. In the developed countries, protection of industrial heritage is a model of developing and a part of the urban landscape. This study tried to explain history of the industrial heritage protection and its importance. For this purpose, we study Nizhny Tagil Charter, The Dublin Principles, Taipei Declaration and Madrid Document. In addition, following-up FICIM, TICCIH, ICOMOS and the International Architects Community are necessary to explain why industrial heritage is important in the landscape of historical cities. The explanation of the position of Varamin Sugar Refinery in the urban landscape was considered in this study. Varamin Sugar Refinery is a monument of Industrialization during 20th century. This building has become a valuable asset in the historical perspective of the Varamin city with unique features including: Prominent architecture, convenient urban location, Environmental and historical-cultural features, and the interest of the urban community in this building. In some of historical cities, which developed in 20th century as Varamin some features such as, buildings, sites, and industrial elements should be considered in urban development policies because they are key parts of urban landscape and industrial heritage. In addition, conservation of industrial heritage not only is important for academic discussions, but also is important for economic features. Revitalization of industrial heritage (especially for cultural uses) can lead to the city's economic and cultural growth, as well as job creation.. In general, Revitalization and C onservation of urban landscape and historic buildings of a city requires a balance between the past situation and present potential. Focus on industrial heritage in the landscape of historical cities is a key part of urban management policies.

Destructive process of Tehran’s river valleys and unsuccessful experiences in different cases indicate the lack of proper understanding and misuse of the capacities and potentials of these river valleys. Darakeh river valley is one of the seven valuable river valleys in Tehran as well as one of the main and natural corridors located on the foothills of Alborz Mountains. Darakeh River Valley is composed of three components of water, plant and architectural pieces. The essential companionship of these three components expresses the natural and vernacular structure of Darakeh river Valley. Route of the river alongside valley’s thalweg and formation of trees and plants along it and presence of architectural pieces at the end of the river path, shape the main configuration of Darakeh river valley.
The Iranian Shaarbagh hypothesis, which was presented by Mahdi Shaybani and Maryam Esmaeil Dokht in landscape Magazine No. 33 in 2013, iterated the elements for Shaarbagh's paradigm that the water, plant, and architectural pieces were introduced as the main components of Shaarbagh’s configuration.
It seems that the components of Iranian Shaarbagh can be the model for the formation of the river valley, which water, plant (gardens of Darakeh) and the architectural pieces (the village of Darakeh) are shaped in a linear structure and along the river path. According to natural context and river path, the figure of the Darakeh’s gardens and the architectural pieces (village of Darakeh) following the paradigm of Iranian Shaarbagh.
This research seeks to develop a future theory for Darakeh River Valley and by studying the Iranian Shaarbagh paradigm and its adaptation to the landscaping elements of the river valley, it concludes the issue which Iranian Shaarbagh paradigm is the basis for Darakeh river valley and it is possible to apply this theory in the future development of this river valley.

In the field of pedestrian-orientation, the notion of shared space has been proposed as a human-centered approach to the designing of contemporary urban streets with the aim of integration of vehicles and people. The woonerf phenomenon, which can literally be translated as ‘living yard’, is equivalent to traffic-calming or home zones aimed at realizing shared space on the scale of residential neighborhoods. Aiming to create safe and vital neighborhoods and set a speed limit for passing vehicles in the region, woonerf increases the symbiotic potential of personal vehicles and pedestrians; it gives pedestrians the right of way, allows for their free movement, especially in the case of the elderly and those with physical disabilities, and provides a safe playing area for children in the neighborhood. As part of the urban landscape on the neighborhood scale, woonerf consists of physical-functional, aesthetic and semantic- spatial aspects of landscape. It is achieved through the combination of natural and human made environments based on human activities and it can provide delightful emotional, perceptual and cognitive experiences for local residents by adjusting the ergonomic, personal, social and cultural needs of people in a special neighborhood by recourse to “form, function and meaning” simultaneously. The sum total of perceptual, formal and symbolic levels in an aesthetic experience centered on humans and pedestrians leads to aesthetic pleasure. Finally, the woonerf urban landscape as an objective-subjective phenomenon will metaphorically remind inhabitants of the living street by enhancing vitality, increasing social interaction and inducing a sense of place in integrated spaces for pedestrians, bicycles and motor vehicles as pedestrian-oriented shared space for a democratic and livable neighborhood.

Sun heat in Thailand is coming stronger every year, with record breaking temperatures. It is important to learn ability of thermal properties of house materials (insulation). Therefore three replica simple house models have been built, one model with wood and the other two with fiber cement planks for ceiling, flooring, and walling. Due to a density of wood about half of fiber cement plank, wood thickness was selected to be double of fiber cement plank. Roof of all replica models is made of non-asbestos fiber cement smart board. Under a rather calm weather during late April to early May 2017, these models were used to observe hourly temperatures inside the house during 08.00-16.00. All these three models were placed in Thammasat University Rangsit Campus (Pathumtani Province). The point to place the models was selected such that the taller building casted a shadow on all the models for 15.00 hours and after. This was to block sunlight and see how wood and fiber cement planks be able to release the heat to its surrounding. This experiment found that the model with wood, temperatures inside all the rooms were lower than that of the other two models with fiber cement planks. After under the shadow of the tall building, the model with wood room temperatures was cooled off at a slower rate compared to the other two replica models.
