A theory based on which time, but not the passage of time, is a reality is called “time without the passage” theory. The Passage of time, in a sense, is arisen from a series of events wherein an event is ordered relative to the “present”. This paper is aimed to evaluate the Sadra’s view on the passage of time. In this way, it is shown that he, from one hand, considers time as a chain of objective events wherein an event is ordered relative to the other events not relative to the present; on the other hand, he assumes temporal parts for objects based on which the existential differentiation between past, present, and future destinations is eliminated. Both of these are only compatible with the time without the passage theory not with its rival theory (the theory that both time and the passage of time are real). Therefore, it could be said that Sadra has tended towards the time without the passage theory. This could shed more light on the ontological necessaries of some Sadra’s philosophy concepts like “substantial motion” and “motion in the sense of cutting”.

In virtue epistemology, epistemic virtue has been defined in two ways. Ernest Sosa regards it as a reliable faculty, and Linda Zagzebski regards it as a character trait, while both consider virtue as a belief producer, and explain knowledge on the basis of it. This paper considers the different attitudes of philosophers to the definition and characteristics of knowledge as the cause of the aforementioned duality in the analysis of virtue. The definition of knowledge as “justified true belief” that is a passive issue (in Sosa) and as a state beyond the true beliefs, which is the result of voluntary activity (in Zagzebski), ultimately leads to consider epistemic virtue as a power or as a character trait that is necessary for such an activity. Consequently, in spite of the fact that both philosophers maintain that faculties are necessary for “animal knowledge”, their different views on the “reflective knowledge” ultimately leads to two concepts of virtue. Even Sosa’s accepting the role of agential virtues, like mind openness and attention, in judgmental belief does not make any remarkable change in the result of the discussion.

An acceptable conditional in Avicennian logic can be categorized in one of the four quantified formats. After the advent of modern logic, few attempts have been made to form conditionals in the modern logic language. Formation of a singular necessity conditional was an important issue that has been revealed in these attempts. The relationship between antecedent and consequence in this type of conjunctive conditionals can be introduced by a conditional or conjunctive connective. In this paper, through studying different traditional texts of Avicennian logic, we provide evidences that each one of these connectives can be selected. We found these evidences in mode of expression of arguments, paradoxes, and differences in this tradition. Therefore, selecting only one of the connectives to show the nature of relationship between antecedent and consequence in the singular necessity conditional will result in ignoring some of the evidences.

The notion of fitrah (human innateness) plays a significant and a unique role in the Mortaza Motahari’s views. He considered this notion as the issue of the highest importance and himself as the human innateness philosopher. Because of his familiarity with western philosophy, Motahari was the first Islamic philosopher who payed attention to special philosophies. The notion of human innateness is a foundation for Motahari upon which he established other theories he proposed in ethics, philosophy of law, and philosophy of education, etc. Furthermore, the philosophy of history, where, according to Motahari, human innateness plays a central role, was another realm of thought that he profoundly delved into. What we are trying to address in this paper is the possibility of proposing a theory of philosophy of history based on human innateness. According to the theory of human innateness, the existence of the human is prior to his/her essence and human being is a free-flowing existence moving toward its perfection through substantial motion. According to Motahari, the rule of the individual existence of the human also applies to his/her social existence. In other words, the human society is a free-flow existence that has no essence and this existence, i.e., the historical-sociological existence of the human being, moves uninterruptedly toward its perfection and ultimate actuality.

Muslim philosophers have brought up entities as intermediaries to explain the mode of the interrelation of the existence levels. In Mulla Sadra’s Philosophy, the Expanding Existence, as The First Originated Being, situates between the Hidden Ipseity and essences. This Existence is the ground of the ontological foundation of principality, unity and gradation of existence. Thus the ontology based on the intermediate role of this Existence is an elaborated manifest of the Sadraean intermediarism. Based on this intermediaristic structure, infinite intermediaries would be possible, though their names and determinations are unknown, their beings are not deniable. The Expanding Existence is the unique existence while consisting of infinite levels, and always there could be an intermediate level conceived between two ontological levels of this existence. Accordingly, all entities, including the intermediaries to which antecedent philosophers were referring, can be explained as levels of this unique existence. The advantages of this explanation can be seen in solving problems such as the unity and the multiplicity of God's acts, the nature of knowledge, and position of the word and the archetypical forms.

Extraordinary affairs (EOA) and extrasensory perceptions (ESP) are studied in philosophical psychology. The main problem in this research is to consider how these actions are done by the soul. Our findings show that the occurrences of these actions are based on their both proximate and remote origins, i.e., volition and knowledge respectively. In extraordinary affairs (EOA) and extrasensory perceptions (ESP), ‘influential volition’, having its root in the intensity of volition and certainty of knowledge, plays a main role. This certain knowledge is realized under special conditions, including physical and psychological ones. There is a distinction between magic and haruspication on the one hand, and miracles of the prophets and the saints on the other. The influential volition in the former depends upon the soul of the possessor of the volition, whereas in the latter, it is inspired by God as the source and origin of the world.

The Comparative Study of Plato and Avicenna’s views on love is important because, we think, the origin of discrepancies on this issue in Western and Islamic philosophical thought has its roots in these two thinkers’ views. Occasionally, in Plato's theory, Love is described as a desire to possess the goodness and, sometimes, beauty. Therefore, Platonic Love is related to beauty and perfections of the beloved; so, it has some human aspect and cannot be considered as a God attribute and does not flow in the universe and cannot be explained but through anthropological issues. In Plato's theory, as love is to attain beauty, it has an instrumental nature. According to aforementioned description, Platonic love is considered as an object to attain the absolute beauty.
On the other hand, according to Avicenna's views, love has its roots in the knowledge of beauty; therefore, he maintains that love is one of the attributes of God which has some ontological aspect.
