At the beginning of the 6th century B.C. the Medes and the Babylonians waged one of the greatest wars of ancient history to put an end to the cruel tyrannical rule of the Assyrians in the Near East. As the last great Assyrian king, Ashurbanipal, destroyed Elam, the Babylonians had to resort to the Medes in order to escape capitulation to the Assyrians. As for the Medes, they had long mulled the idea of annihilating the Assyrians; long before their pact with the Babylonians, they conquered the city of Assyria, the ancient capital of the Assyrian empire, in 614 B.C. It was in the ruins of Assyria where the Medes king Cyaxares and the Babylonian king Nabopolassar entered into a pact to unite in the battle against the Assyrian king and conquer other cities. In the midst of the years 609-614 B.C. the Assyrian empire collapsed and their land was subjugated by the Medes and the Babylonians. This alliance, however, proved to be short-lived and after the loot of Assyria the Medes-Babylonians relations deteriorated and a Medes invasion of Babylon was much expected. However, before the Medes and the Babylonians could muster their might in a battle against each other, the Persian under Cyrus the Great subjugated the Medes and Babylonians and other territories to the east. The current article seeks to put the Medes-Babylonians pact in its proper context and study the fall of the Assyrian empire and analyze the relations between the Medes and the Babylonians in the wake of the Assyrian fall until the rise of Cyrus the Great (530-559 B.C.) .

Most researches rely on official documents and the correspondence between the neighbors to the east and west (the Ottomans and Shabanians), to blame the Safavids for the blockade of Hajj routes on the pilgrims from the Transoxiana and the inner areas of Iran. The current article had undertaken to study the Hajj pilgrimage roads running through the Safavid territory under Shah Abas the Great. According to the research findings the Safavid did not benefit from blocking Hajj routes and strived diplomatically and politically to re-open the roads for Hajj pilgrimage. Furthermore, the neighboring states to the east and west flanked the Safavid on both sides and undermined the security and stability of the traditional trade and transport roads thereby contributing to the closing of Hajj routes. However, they contrived to put the blame on the Safavid rulers and make them suffer the consequences. More particularly, the commonalities of culture and history and the Ottoman role as the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques and the rulers of the Islamic World, helped both states accomplish their goals.

Iranian carpet industry is thousands of years old. The carpet has decorated a wide range of spaces from the nomadic tents to the royal courts and palaces. Since the 10th century A.H. i.e., the establishment of the Safavid dynasty in Iran, carpet was deemed as an important industry and a venerable form of art. The current article attempts to shed light on Tabriz carpets and reveal their trace in world museums and discuss the reason for their desirability. Through descriptive-analytical method and by means of library and online sources made available by western museums the author has sought to first, put the importance and status of Tabriz carpet in its proper context in the Safavid era, and then assess its export to foreign countries.

A watershed moment in Iranian history the Constitutional Movement touched upon and changed many aspects of society, culture and politics in Iran; namely, the Iranian attitude towards political participation and the right to choose their destiny and sensitivity to diplomatic relations with other nations. During 1327-1329 A.H. under the pretext of supplying food and stabilizing the country the Russian and British troops entered Iran, which stirred reaction among Iranians (at the national parliament as the representative of the people) and the press (national media). According to the findings of this article the Iranian shunned emotional and reactionary methods and opted for more rational ways, such as diplomatic measures, in order to raise awareness among other nations about the Russian and British intrusions. Through their efforts they delegitimized the foreign presence in Iran and draw empathy among other nations which led to an embargo on goods of Russian origin and the suspension of Nowruz ceremonies.
