“Spiritual Sultanate” is among the phrasings that Qāḍī Sa‘īd Qummī has used about Imamate. This concept has a direct relation with the Imam’s sovereignty in the world of Divine Commandment or malakūt (Divine Dominion). For this same reason the title “Sultan” in the Shī‘ī pilgrimage prayer books (ziyāratnāmas) and appeals (tawassuls)، such as al-walī al-murshid addressing the Eighth Imam (A. S.)، indicates the high position of that holy Imam (A. S.) for guidance of the spiritual wayfarers. In order to figure out this position، a tradition about calmness (sakīna) quoted from his holiness (A. S.) is studied in this article. According to this tradition، a Divine countenance and distinction would emerge for the faithful. In this research، while expounding ḥadīth of Imam al-Riḍā (A. S.)، some evidences of the intuitions of the learned experts have been presented denoting that one of the most perfect forms of calmness of the heart is the luminous countenance of Shams al-Shumūs، the guardianship of Imam ‘Alī b. Mūsā al-Riḍā (A. S.).

Substantial movement is one of the most important sides of the gnostic geometry of the transcendental philosophy. In this writing، the notional aspect of the discourse and the way the substantial movement is based on the principality of existence is discussed. Given the multiplicity of impressions from the principality of existence and the mentally-positedness (i‘tibāriyyat) of quiddity (māhiyyat)، our conception of the substantial movement becomes multiplied. One exposition (taqrīr) of the substantial movement is formed by accepting the quiddity (māhiyyat) following existence (bi al-taba‘) and quiddity based on supposition that is actualized in the objective world via existence and the second exposition based on non-actualization of quiddity in the objective world، which in respect to both conception and the way they are based on the principality of existence، both expositions are ultimately challenged.

It is said that the theory of active intellect is among the most ambiguous and controversial topics of Aristotle’s philosophy. This ambiguity is generally regarded as being resulted from the brevity and vagueness of Aristotle’s speech in his On the Soul. However; is the ambiguity of Aristotle’s speech to such an extent that the active intellect attributed to him can be regarded as separate from the soul and as having a content consisting of all rational forms، as regarded by some of his successors and commentators? By presenting an analytical discussion، it is indicated in this article that Aristotle’s active intellect is neither separate from intellect nor containing rational a priori content. Rather، it includes an aspect of the intellect’s power and function; an intellect that is simple and indivisible and therefore a single reality with two functions: 1. Accepting the ideas of reason (that is passive in this respect); 2. Intellectualization of the ideas potentially existent in perception (that is active in this respect).

The term Divine favor in Mullā Ṣadrā’s transcendental philosophy means Divine essential knowledge that is the origin of objective actualization of action and the best order. In addition، Divine knowledge is also considered as common between the essential and actual attributes. Therefore، Divine knowledge can be analyzed in terms of essential (Divine knowledge) and actual (the best order). The main questions raised in this article are as follows: First، if we analyze these two aspects of Divine favor، what problems in transcendental philosophy are they related to? Second، how do these two aspects of the meaning of Divine favor are proved in transcendental philosophy? What is obtained from the above analysis is that in view that the Divine favor is in relation with Divine knowledge، it is God-consciousness; and in view that it is in relation with the order of the world of being and its quality، it is a cosmological issue. Consequently، with regard to the relation of this issue to the Divine knowledge، the issue of the quality of Divine knowledge and its levels is proved through the argument of the ultimate simple; and with regard to its relation to the best order and the quality of the world of being as a system، this issue is explicated through the order of Divine actions and the stages of the order of being. This article is intended to analyze and review with the descriptive method the relation of these two aspects of Divine favor with the issues relevant to it in the philosophical system of transcendental philosophy.

Mullā Ṣadrā has three different approaches towards knowledge by presence concerning the material existences. On many occasions، he regards the physical matters، including bodies and accidents، out of the realm of knowledge by presence and maintains that they are neither present with themselves nor with another reality and nor another reality can be present with them. On another basis، he maintains that the materials become known with their abstract cause. But، according to the third approach، on various other occasions he has maintained perception and consciousness for all creatures. In this viewpoint، he considers knowledge and existence as equal. Besides، according to him، presence is the precondition for knowledge and in fact the very reality of knowledge. Abstraction is the precondition for presence، as well. Therefore، it becomes necessary for the physical matters to have a kind of knowledge by presence and abstraction، too. Then، we can both speak of the hypothesis of the existence of the known (ma’lūm) with them and the hypothesis of their being set as known to the knowledge by presence. In this paper، we have tried، on the basis of the definitions and the principles that Mullā Ṣadrā has presented about knowledge، to distinguish between his positions in this respect and finally deal with the question as to which saying of Mullā Ṣadrā can be in a well-reasoned way considered as his ultimate and accurate view. According to the reasons presented at the end of the article، the third view and approach is preferred.

Although Ghazālī has not openly talked about the philosophy of theology، its components can be found in his works. As such، he regards the ultimate goal of theology to be safeguarding the religion and the assertoric or imitative belief of the religious person، preventing misconception and doubt to enter it، and preparing for the desired outcome of theology (happiness). The status of the science of theology in his opinion is sometimes instrumental and secondary and sometimes it is a general science with an inherent value. Since the existent is exclusive to God and other than God (mā sawā Allāh) and what is other than God is nothing but God’s signs in the horizons and in one’s own soul، then he regards the subject of theology ultimately as being “existence in its own existence” and its problems as the essential attributes of existence. According to him، faith is gradational and it is obligatory to preserve all its stages; therefore he suggests multiplicity in procedure and method، including the rational-demonstrative، rational-dialectical، intuitional (intuitive)، experimental، homiletic، imitative، etc. with a persuading and preserving approach. He abandons the definition of theology as ambiguous and multi-faceted. The details of the matter should be sought for within the article itself.
