When an agent acts contrary to his، all-things-considered، best judgment while he is able to do the best he acts akratically. Socrates for the first time posed the problem. He believed that akrasia is impossible since nobody can act wrong intentionally or waiver the best. But it sometimes seems that people commit evil intentionally; the reason، according to Socrates، is that they count the action in question as good due to their ignorance. Equating the good and pleasant، Socrates declares that the claim that «reason is sometimes overcome by passion» is baseless. Socrates knows nothing more powerful than knowledge. But Aristotle is known to be a defender of possibility of akrasia. He distinguishes between actualized and suspended knowledge. Agent with suspended knowledge may know related universals but particulars، or he may know both، but his knowledge is superficial like an asleep، insane or a drunken man. It is only the suspended knowledge that might be acted contrary to. It is not comprehensible that an agent equipped with actualized knowledge slips. This paper tries to show that، despite the opinion of some scholars، Aristotle''s standpoint is very close to that of Socrates.

Husserl، besides Dilthey and Heidegger، is one of the most important philosophers who had big influence on Gadamer and is the philosopher who is frequently referred to in his works. Gadamer’s encounter with Husserl، in spite of his greatness in the eyes of Gadamer، was always a hermeneutical one. Considering and criticizing Husselr’s phenomenology، Gadamer tries to discover his unspoken thoughts. Few scholars have even considered Gadamer and Husserl’s relationships، which among them much more are people who tried to trace the influence of Husserl in Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics. Instead، here، we will reveal and highlight the Gadamer’s critical views of the key concepts of Husserl''s phenomenology such as subjectivity، pure perception، intersubjectivity، transcendental ego، and alter ego. We believe Gadamer practically remained loyal to his hermeneutical approach. Instead of just repeating the thoughts، he goes behind them and opens new horizons.

Kant organizes his analysis in terms of four moments of the judgment of taste، each of which is supposed to contribute something essential to the complete exposition of the beautiful in «Critique of Judgment». He، in the third moment، based on the key concept analysis of «purposiveness»، reaches to the beauty definition «a purposiveness without a purpose» (subjective purposiveness). Below this moment، two concepts of «dependent beauty» and «the ideal of beauty» also arises that aesthetic judgment in both of them is based on an objective purposiveness and a concept indicating nature of the object and the perfection of the object that is considered as default for judgment. This default in dependent beauty is perfection of the object and in the ideal of beauty is a concept from the sum of the rational idea and the aesthetic normal idea، but this point of view is in contradiction with the principle of Kant''s aesthetic، which judgment of the beautiful just relies on the subjective purposiveness. This article reviewing the concept of purposiveness and the type of subjective purposiveness in the ideal of beauty and dependent beauty، attempts to explain the aesthetic value of these concepts and their differences and similarities، and finally to determine the position of these two concepts in Kant''s philosophy.

In this paper، I am going to review the Hegelian solution to solve Cartesian doctrine of the mind body dualism. Such a dichotomy refers to the fact that in the recognition we are dealing with two completely different and separate domains، i. e.، the internal world (ideas، beliefs، concepts، and mentalities)، and the external world (the domain of objects) that which refers to the first domain. Hegel believes that Cartesian dualism arises from a categorical mistake. He says that subjectivism is the starting point that fundamentally is wrong. Hegel argues that a genuine philosophy could overcome the dichotomy. According to Hegel، it is only by the idea of «absolute» and “identity in differences” that could be possible to go out of this dualism. The role of philosophy، for him، is theorizing «about the real world”. Hegel says that these contradictions are within the» structure of consciousness. «By adopting the right approach in explaining Cartesian doctrine of the mind body dualism from a phenomenological perspective، it can be possible to show the mind’s Odyssey within reality.

On the one hand، Wittgenstein considers philosophy as a generator of mental confusion، but on the other hand، he desires philosopher as a therapist. This two-sided attitude to philosophy begins with Tractatus and then admitting the various therapeutic methods، reaches to the second period of his life. Recently، the origins of Wittgenstein''s therapeutic approach in Tractatus are neglected by most of his positivist commentators، instead، this approach have been followed in the second period of his thought، especially in Philosophical Investigations. In this essay، we have tried to clarify this obscurity and to indicate the roots of Wittgenstein''s therapeutic approach in Tractatus. Since mentioning the «symptom» or symptoms of mental confusion resulting from philosophical thinking and stage of its «diagnosis» is considered as preparations of therapy، we، by emphasizing on the therapeutic value of clarity، will survey «symptom»، «diagnosis» and finally Wittgenstein''s therapeutic approach toward philosophy in Tractatus، and then we will point out some reasons causing negligence to Tractatus therapeutic approach. In this way، we will show that Wittgenstein، from the beginning of his philosophical thinking، has believed in this approach and in Philosophical Investigations he has just declared it in the everyday language. Here، we will also unveil restriction of Wittgenstein''s therapeutic approach to philosophy.

Søren Kierkegaard was one of the most influential Christian philosophers and theologians in the nineteenth century. The relationship between faith and rationality in Kierkegaard’s thought is a very important topic for many contemporary theologians and philosophers. He، with a particular interpretation of faith، tried to show that faith is a passion and subjective truth، conflicting with objective categories and intellectual arguments. On the one hand، he attempted to prove that faith is beyond reason and in conflict with it، on the other hand. Using three arguments; the approximation argument، the postponement argument، and the passion argument، he asserts these two claims. This article seeks to answer two central questions about the relationship of faith and rationality in Kierkegaard''s thought: First، on what basis Kierkegaard proves that faith is beyond reason and in conflict with it? Second، is Kierkegaard''s view on the matter of faith and reason justified and acceptable?

In this paper، I have tried to answer، by an analytic-critical method، to this question: What is the relation between moral intuition and justifying moral judgments from Moore''s viewpoint? For answering to this question، by distinguishing the two meanings of «Intuition» in Moore''s views، namely «Immediate and direct perception of the property ''Goodness''» and «Immediate and direct perception of the propositions containing the predicate ''Good''» - which I have called them Intuition (1) and Intuition (2) - I have shown that، according to Moore، intuition can justify moral judgments، based on the traditional definition of «knowledge». At the end of my discussion of the relation between each of the two meanings of intuition and justifying moral judgments، I have criticized Moore''s views. Following are what I finally get: a) Intuition (1) implies «emotive evaluation»; b) Intuition (1) doesn''t provide any criterion for resolving the basic moral disagreements; c) Intuition (1) can''t produce any knowledge; d) Since Moore''s claim that «the propositions containing the predicate ''Good'' are ''correspondent to reality'' and ''factual''»، it is unreasoned. Intuition (2) can''t justify moral judgments; e) since intuition (2) doesn''t provide any appropriate reason for believing in the self-evidence and necessary truth of such propositions، it can''t justify moral judgments.

We know that Martin Heidegger in «Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics» presented some ontological interpretation of «Critique of Pure Reason» as opposed to other epistemological interpretations. He tried to explain how all parts of the work of Kant (based on time as the necessary condition of schematism) are originally related to the basic problem of finite human being or Dasein. Immanuel Kant، from the perspective of Heidegger، is indeed the founder of fundamental ontology of Dasein. The main objective of this paper is related to the same problem. In this article، we have tried to briefly analyze and evaluate and criticize Heidegger''s interpretation of Kant. Heidegger seems to neglect the other important side of Kant’s thought، namely the non-temporal aspect of apperception. We''ve noted that Being، in Emmanuel Kant’s view، is not based on time، but certainly on some unknowable and non-temporal foundation beyond human experience.

Kant in Critique of Judgment tries to introduce aesthetical judgment as a product of reflective judgment، and he، in the First Critique، separates it from the cognitive judgments of understanding، but in the Second Critique، from the ethical judgments of reason. Because the Third Critique must fill the gap between those two، and thus enable communication between two realms of philosophy، it has to establish a relation between faculties of understanding، reason، and imagination in an aesthetical and a teleological reflective. This paper، introducing the general principles governing on aesthetical reflective judgment and the free play of imagination and understanding for abstraction of pure and final form of objects، wants to justify the relation between imagination and reason in the beauty of art and its two parts، i. e.، the mechanical arts، and fine art.

The conception of justice in Plato’s Republic is an abstract concept that Socrates by using midwifery method strives to create it. In fact، although Plato''s talk about justice starts from the external perspective، but، his main intention is investigation of all internal structure of human soul and then of social classes and thereby، to disclosure the nature of justice. For Rawls، in contrast، the realities of society and the economic and social conditions of current societies are more important. Rawls’ view on justice is less psychological than Plato''s one. In his two books، “A Theory of Justice” and “Justice as Fairness”، he investigates the nature of justice with regard to the economic and social realities of societies. In this article، on the one hand، we compare the advantages of Rawls'' concept of “Justice as Fairness” with Plato''s concept of justice، and on the other hand، we will investigate if Rawls، like Plato، did tripartite analysis of justice، or it (the tripartite analysis of justice) can be caused by his view of Justice?

Focusing on language and attempting to derive the hidden meanings is one of the most important aspects of analytic philosophy to solve or resolve philosophical problems. All of the three founders of analytic philosophy، i. e. Frege، Russell، and Moore، trace this road differently. Ludwig Wittgenstein as the follower of them has his own ideas. In this paper، we will firstly explore theories of those founders briefly and then show that Wittgenstein، in some respects، such as; pitcher theory، logical atomism، and respecting to ordinary language is in agreement with them. However، he، in other respects، has own specific ideas: the meaning of states of affairs، critic of metaphysics and insisting on the ordinary language in a different manner.
