    Background
Introduction of Iranian National Medical Digital Library (INLM) was a huge investment during several years ago. The aim of this study was to discover the effectiveness of this scientific intervention by examination of citation pattern among graduate dental thesis during before and after of INLM accessibility.
    Methods
This analytical study was conducted among all of graduate dental thesis at Babol University of Medical Sciences (during 2007-2010) using citation analysis. The data were collected by means of a tailor-made data collection sheet and analyzed using descriptive statistical indexes and ANOVA test.
    Results
The outcome extracted of 111 theses and 5334 citations showed that journals were the most frequent format (80%) and there were not any statistical significant difference between numbers of cited references over the four years. Furthermore, there was not any positive effect on age of cited references.
    Conclusions
Overall, according to limited effect on number, age and types of cited references during before and after of INLM access, it can be concluded that INLM had negligible effect on citation pattern and more research in this regard is necessary.

    Background
One way of developing nursing education is using of new teaching methods. One of this student based method that has been introduced recently is case-based teaching method. So the aim of this study was to assess the opinion of nursing student about case-based Teaching method and comparison with lecture in Zanjan Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery in 2011.
    Methods
This is a quasiexperimental study which 30 senior nursing students spending the intensive care curriculum in Zanjan Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery was selected. The content of session was divided in two parts. First part of was presented with case-based teaching method and second part was presented with lecture. Each of methods was done during 45 minute. At the end of session, it was asked from student to compare two methods and fill the questionnaire. Data was analyzed with SPSS software.
    Results
According to the results, many of students completely agreed that case-based teaching method increases the reading comprehension of students as compared with lecture. Also the results showed that most students had high satisfaction about this new method, while the mean satisfaction rate was 8/38±1/8 in 0-10 scale. But there was no differences between tow sex (p>0.05).
    Conclusion
According to the results we conclude that case-based teaching method has high efficacy as compared with lecture. And this is simply applicable method. So nursing instructors can use this method to promote students learning.

    Background
In regard to enhancement of efficiency and productivity of an organization in terms of teamwork, it is necessary to shift to team-centered approach for increasing confidence in health care systems. Therefore it is needed to assess effect of the academic training on students'' viewpoint in team working.
    Methods
This was a cross-sectional study and was done in Kurdistan University of medical sciences in 2012. The subject was all of the students in first and last semesters of medical, nursing, Laboratory Sciences, Anesthesiology, Operating room, radiology and Midwifery courses. Sample size was 410 people. A questionnaire was used, which its validity and reliability has been confirmed.
    Results
326 questionnaires were completed, in which the first term student were 177 cases and the last term were 149 cases. There was no significant difference among freshmen and senior students'' aspect about team working (Pvalue < 0.05).
    Discussion
It should be considered that the team working is different from task, although both of them are necessary for team, In addition it must be said that knowledge and skills are not adequate for doing task and they must be along with team working approach. Therefor it is necessary to consider the training of team working in university.

    Background
Score worksheets have been extracted for PhD candidates in Epidemiology, Microbiology and Parasitology for the academic year of 1386-87. The main objective in this study is the impact and importance of different subjects on the discrimination results of admission.
    Methods
Extracted scores from worksheets are analyzed by MINITAB15 statistical toolbox. The regression values of different subjects were extracted and sorted for each branch of study. All subject correlation coefficients were calculated in comparison to overall candidate performance. A redundancy measure was suggested on the basis of correlation of different subject performances. The distribution box plots were shown for different subject to visualize comparison.
    Results
The repeatability and redundancy between different subjects were high in bacteriology. The different subjects in this branch of study had efficient and equal impact on discrimination. The bacteriology as a subject had shown lowest significance in epidemiology, therefore it has the lowest taxonomy. The bacteriology and fungicide subject despite its low weight showed the highest impact of 6.44 in parasitology.
    Conclusion
In this study we realized that in branches such as epidemiology different subjects have equal impact. In subject cases which the significance of impacts are very low, there should be further consideration and analysis on the subject matter to whether wave the subject. In parasitology branch bacteriology and fungicide subject has higher impact on discrimination, it is worth to increase its weight and the number of questions on the subject.

    Background
Medical education should be considered as a dynamic process. If necessary, the program should be changed. Considering rapid advantages in the field of virology, it seems to be necessary to review and change the virology course of medical students. Therefore we decided to analyze the view of Iranian medical students of the quantity and quality of virology course.
    Methods
Medical students at basic science of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences attended in this research in the spring semester of 2011. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to analyze the view of students of the importance, quality, and revision of the program. And students’ viewpoints about each variable were presented as percentages.
    Results
82.5% of students evaluated the importance of virology as high to very high levels. To most of student, the relationship between virology and their future career was high. Most of the students agreed with the increase of duration of the course and revision of the curriculum. The destitution of the courses in basic science was not appropriate according to 86.25% of students.
    Conclusion
Considering the results of the study, we suggest increasing of virology credit point for medical students. The present study showed that the importance of the course and its professional application was evaluated as high level by most of the students. The revising of the course and adding the new topics to current curriculum was agreed by most of them.

    Background
Empirical inculcation is vital for producing quality research professionals and upon realizing the increasing demand of emerging scientific research professionals, National Academy of Young Scientist (NAYS) launched its science for youth (S4Y) program in Pakistan with its emphasis on empiricism.
    Methods
S4Y team was galvanized to undertake this task and different scientific activities were organized by them in different schools and colleges of Pakistan during 2011 _ 2012. Scientific activities that were arranged included seminars on diverse scientific subjects and career counseling sessions.
    Results
Response of students showed that the implementation of this program can contribute in achieving the target of producing qualified skilled research professionals and upturning the Pakistan literacy rate. Experimental activities were also planned but its implementation was restricted due to financial strains. 39 activities were conducted in 2012 in the schools and colleges of all the provinces of Pakistan on the importance of science in the world, scientific discoveries, and career counseling.
    Conclusion
These activities at school and college level were appreciated by the students and staff members and proved very fruitful for defining the scientific fields and goals of scientific studies for Pakistani youth. Implementation of experimental activities in future will help students in getting awareness about the ways through which science explores this world.

    Background
When the lesson plan is performed correctly in the classroom, the value of this program and the time spent for it are exactly clarified. The aim of this study is to survey the coordination of theoretical lessons teaching for the students of dentistry in the ninth term in comparison with the lesson plans presented in 1388.
    Methods
A copy of all lesson plans offered in the ninth term,1388, with a compact disk of classroom teaching were given to ten sharp students who were active in class participation. According to what they learned in the classes and also listening to the CDs, they addressed the presence or absence of the topics presented in the lesson plans. The collected data were statistically described based on mean frequencies of addressed topics.
    Results
lesson plans of 5 courses, from the 7 theoretical courses offered, were accessible. It was found that the coordination rate of lesson plans in comparison with the teachers’ presentation in the pediatrics course was 96.25%, in oral surgery 74.8%, in restorative dentistry 81%, in endodontics 92.33% and in orthodontics was 98.66%
    Conclusion
The courses of pediatrics, endodontics and orthodontics had ‘excellent’ coordination, but restorative dentistry and oral surgery had ‘good’ coordination. Also the coordination of lesson plans and presented teaching was not perfect.
