Since Khayyam's poems have been very controversial among Western readers, numerous Orientalists and researchers have reviewed and sometimes translated his poetry. Among them, Fitzgerald—right or wrong—has been reputed as the major figure in this domain. However, Fitzgerald introduced Khayyam as a nonchalant and drinker to the world and this is the reason why Robert Graves, the twentieth century poet, has vehemently criticized Fitzgerald and tried to compensate for this negligence by attributing a mystical perspective to Khayyam, which is not necessarily approved by Persian scholars. Regardless of the accuracy of Grave's interpretation and reading, the researcher intends to scrutinize Khayyam's influence on Robert Graves’ poetry and thought and discovers and analyzes Grave's motivation in translating Khayyam's Rubaiyat. Moreover, this essay pays attention to some critics’ views about these two great writers’ viewpoints, which are very similar and could be the reason why Graves has so sympathetically defended Khayyam and has considered him a typical Persian mystical poet. Criticizing some opinions of Robert Graves, Fitzgerald, and Iranian contemporary researchers’ about Khayyam’s Rubaiyat and thoughts is also another matter of concern in this article.

The impact of other poets’ works on Hafiz’s poetry is remarkable. This great poet has skilfully and appropriately utilized contents and meanings of poems by other poets in his works and has justly done it in a worthy way. Therefore, In order to study the origins of Hafiz’s poems and to represent his dominance in making eloquent poems, it is necessary to consider those poets’ works and to compare them with Hafiz’s words which demonstrate some of his ability in eloquence. The author of this article aims to study Jalal Tabib Shirazi’s Divan in this regard. To this end, an authentic copy of Jalal’s Divan was required. Fortunately, Dr. Pourjavadi has recently provided this possibility by revising and publishing a copy of Jalal’s Divan based on an illegible manuscript which has been found as an annotation on another manuscript and also by referring to other sources. What is represented here is the result of contemplation on this collection of poems. In the case of being accurate, there would be a hope of being considered by the scholars in future.

Today, Arab contemporary poetry has unveiled its new face to the world. Regarding the poetic structure, in addition to the deconstruction of deconstructing the diction of the poetry that occurred one or two decades after the Persian poetry and novel application of terms and words, the breadth of imagination, Arab poet's potentials in creating images have made the Arab poetry different from its old structure. Semantically the Arab contemporary poetry has also taken a new conceptual orientation. Besides, descriptions of the nature and composing love poems, attention to the female genderas one of the most common themes of Arabic poetry, and the occurrence of new issues and trends have changed the thought and cogitation behind the Arab poetry. World War I & II, the Palestinian resistance movement, six days of Arab fighting, Colonialism and the Arab’s familiarity with the West and consequently the fundamental changes in lifestyle and the Arabs attitude toward the world are all factors that altered Arab poetry. The main consequence of these factors in Arab poetry has been a spirit of hopelessness and disappointment that pervades the poetry of this period as the poems of this period were called “abasiyye” (i.e. doleful poems). BadrShakerSayyab, Nazik Al-malaekeh, NizarQabbani, AbdolwahabBayati, Adonis, boland Al-heydary and Mohammad Meftah Al-fytvry are poets whose poems are analyzed in the present study.

Hafiz and his poetry have frequently been discussed from various perspectives, so much so that, it is to be feared that whatever is mentioned in the present paper has been uttered earlier. Repetitious subjects, irrational perceptions, generalizations, and philosophism in this regard are to the extent that have really become tedious. This paper aims at comparing Sadi and Hafiz in terms of considering principals of Islamic mysticism in their works. However, the author does not claim to state everything perfectly and the clear-sighted scholars are asked to express their views regarding this issue. Probably, the experts in this field believe that this comparison is not a proper one or they may say that the superiority of hafiz over Sadi in mysticism is evident. In any case, truly or falsely, the author of this paper thinks that Sadi in general has employed the principals of Islamic mysticism in his works more than hafiz. However, this issue is so extensive that a great book should be compiled to entirely make it clear.

One of the most typical kinds of poetry in which the poet reveals his internal feelings and emotions is lyric or love-poem. The use of mystical and commendatory concepts in this type of poetry in the Persian lyrics is more extensive than European ones. Composing Lyric poems in the Persian language has commenced since the middle of the third century i.e., from the beginning of the Dari poetry period. The most ancient lyrics which could be found in the literature have been left by Hanzale Badgheissi. However, the lyric poems in the Persian literature attained perfection in the fourth century and the first charming Persian lyric poems were composed by Roudaki, and were culminated in Farrokhi’s works in the first half of the fifth century. A flavor of love is mostly felt in some poems of Anvari, Zahir Faryabi, Khaghani, Nezami, and Jalaleddin mohammadebne Abdolrazzagh. Sanaie’s lyrics in the sixth century and those of Attar in the seventh century have special privileges. Material and mystical lyrics have been culminated by Sadi and Molana respectively, and their works paved the way for the emergence of the Persian lyric genius, Lessanol Gheib Hafiz Shirazi, in the eighth century. Afterwards, Persian lyric poems were repeated in contents and meanings and in general no extraordinary creativity has been observed in this regard since then.

Undoubtedly, the essence of Sadi's speech in his lyric poems is admiring, describing and glorifying of beloved. These characteristics are so prominent in his works that other themes including veins of vasookhtgeraieee have been less frequently observed. The present paper intends to remind that Sadi has also paid attention to those parts of amorous relationships in which complaining about beloved occurred by representing some examples of Sadi’s poems in which there are veins of vasookhtgeraieee such as complaining and reproaching beloved. Taking a look at Anvari and Vahsh Bafqi’s works, who have composed poems before and after Sadi’s era, the author of this paper has pursued the Sadi’s vasookhtgeraieee disscution.
