Every character type may change as time goes by, based on the social conditions which make him different and sometimes opposite of what it used to be. The clown of the Iranian traditional plays –Siyâh- in Siâh Bâzi and Mobârak in Kheyme Shab Bâzi (The Iranian marionette play)- have been funny and instructive. Different types of their characteristics can be sorted out in 4 groups: Physical characteristics, moral and behavioral characteristics, confrontation with the holders of the upper hands, and finally and making others aware and conscious. But this character type has undergone some general changes as an Iranian dramatic element, to the extent that its study requires a sample pattern. This pattern can demonstrate the course in which this character type has been changed. The changing ‘Ayyâr Character group to Luti and after that to Lumpin can be regarded as an appropriate pattern for the study of this changing character, which is influenced by the social conditions. In this changing course a character with good function and traits who is helper for people (‘Ayyâr) make to a character with negative functions and traits in society (Lumpin). According to this sample course a kind of changed clown is designed and introduced which shares some characteristics and functions of the traditional clown, but in a revere direction. Therefore he is referred to as a “reverse clown” in this article. In This changed clown frankness converts to giving orders, rebelliousness converts to rudeness, and mockery converts to insult and contempt. In the study of the tradition clown, we notice a confrontation between the clown as slave and a representative of the lower class with the master as a representative of the higher class. However, with respect to the reverse clown, this confrontation sometimes changes, and the master humiliates the lower class people. This changed kind can be noticed in the play The magnificent smile of Mr. Gil by Akbar Radi, in which Davud Gil is introduced as a reverse Clown. He has clownish characteristics in an inverted direction, like giving ridiculous names to others but he is distinctively a reverse clown against Tuti, the house maid, who belongs to the lower class of the society. Davud is a hunter and gambler who considers Tuti as his property, and believes that he can sacrifice her for the good health of his father Mr. Gil. Just like the court ester who makes the king happy and entertained, Davud as a reverse clown offers Tuti for Mr. Gil’s satisfaction; an action which leads to her destruction. As a reverse clown, Davud has two character sides. He is a happy clown on one hand, who mocks everybody, and on the other hand, he is a hopeless and self-destructive person. After his father’s death, he shows his brutal character against Tuti, and leads her to her suicide. This self-destruction also shows his inverted trait in comparison with the clown in traditional theatre, who wakens the conscious of the society, and is therefore an effective and useful character. Generally, the characteristics and functions of this reverse clown in comparison with the traditional clown can be classified in 8 cases: ridiculous naming, giving orders like the master, humiliating sarcasms, rudeness, buffoonish, self- admiration, making happy with scarifying the other and self-destruction.

Abstract “Metaphorical thinking” is a strategy which helps designers to understand unfamiliar esign problems and to adapt them to familiar conditions. This approach, which has been a prevalent one in recent years, is very effective to promote the stage designer’s thinking and creativity and developing a schema. This research is adjusted for the purpose of ssessing the functions of metaphor, focusing on stage design creativity. Overall, this paper is an applied research conducted by using descriptive and analytical methods. To conduct the theoretical bases of the research, while developing definite frameworks in defining metaphor related to the problem and solution context, the effect of metaphor on stage design is provided methodically and with classification and valuation of etaphors using case studies. The findings indicate that metaphorical stage design, by means of play analysis and design problems investigation, and creative search process, has a unique role in performance innovation and creativity.

Design of learning environments is carried out in different ways. Any form of design will have demonstrated different educational and cultural effects. In particular, these designs possess certain sensitivities within blended educational systems. In the present study, blended environments that benefit from both the advantages of e-learning and real-world environments are designed according to creative and programbased education environments. The statistical group included 950 pre-school recruits in 32 classes of in Asadabad city. The cluster random sampling method was employed in which 80 persons in four classes were selected among 20 persons in each class. The research method was quasi-experimental in which four groups were placed in Solomon’s design. The data collection instrument included two tests, a 25-question test for learning computer concepts with the reliability of 83%, and the other, and a 25-question test for retention of computer concepts with the reliability of 83%. After data analysis, the results of one-way variance analysis showed that significant differences exist between groups of participants (p<0.001). The result of LSD post hoc test indicated that the communities placed in blended learning environment with the creative drama method proved better in learning and retention compared to the communities placed in blended learning environment with the program-based collaborative theatre method.

A large number of movies in the history of cinema are made based on dramatic texts of theater and accordingly adaptation has developed along with original scripts. There are many movies based on famous plays, during the history of the cinema. But due to the differences between these two mediums, a lot of changes take place in the film adaptation. So as Andre Bazin says, can never guarantee that the original play and its adaptation be the same, even if the author has adapted it. The important issue in adaptation in classics is the transition of one dramatic system into another without losing its influence. How we can display the verbal form of a play on the screen, through the aesthetic elements of cinema. Solving this problem is possible only by keeping the dramatic power of a play in transition of theater medium into cinema. The form of an adapted screenplay depends on screenwriter’s point of view, on one hand, and his relation with the play, on the other hand. Sometimes he considers the whole play, sometimes he renders the components of play and translates them into cinematic elements, and sometimes he just takes its idea. The first form is called “film theater”, the second one called “translated plays”, and the third one is called “adaptation from idea”. Depending on the selected play, which is classical or modern, we can choose the type of adaptation. And base on one of these three types of adaptations, we can transform a classical play into a modern film. The importance of the director’s point of view in the formation of adaptation is undeniable. The method of this research is descriptive and comparative. So we compared dramatic elements of Medea by Euripides with two adapted films by Lars von Trier and Pier Paolo Pasolini and we tried to study their differences and similarities. In this paper, we wish to analyze the adaptation of Medea and the position of the film director during this process. Because adaptation of a play is not possible, except by changing the text and replacing it with something else, something like an image. The director’s general approach affects adaptation process. Since, they have used the dramatic features of play to describe their subjective for audiences, based on their personal aspect. None of the directors, neither Trier nor Pasolini, tried to modernize the play. On the one hand, Lars von Trier in his adaptation emphasized on visual and cinematic features. And on the other hand, Pier Paolo Pasolini has tried to depict its mythical background of Medea’s story. Therefore, he has not adhered strictly to the original play. The research findings show that the directors adapted the play based on their own personal impressions of the play and their own view on the cinema.

No matter on what narratology they are based, movies of the modern cinema will eventually reach an ending point. There might remain, however, a lot of questions unanswered in the audience mind. Unlike the classical era, modern directors were not required to observe a set of strict rules and regulations to finish their movies. Consequently, there can be seen in the current era various closing scenes in terms of narratology and découpage settings. In contrast to the classical cinema, the modern version of movies never followed a specific formula for closure. We may suggest, however, to a few innovative models for ending sequences derived from the works of famous directors in the current era. Ending plan in modern cinema was influenced by movie content. Directors of this era address different themes about human inner worlds and interpersonal relationships. The modern cinema often intended to challenge the audience in the ending of movies through ambiguity, suspense and other similar techniques, which later turned out to the most fascinating moments of such works. The decoupage structure of the ending sequence of modern movies attempts to bring about a kind of preawareness of the end of the movie in the audience’s mind with the aid of bracketing and ending codes. Bracketing serves to maintain the cyclic uniformity of the movie narration through the repetition of scenes from the opening sequence of the movie or using acoustic techniques, and sets the beginning and the end of the movie within one framework. The ending codes in the final plan of such works indicate the ending point of the movie in a way, and they announce the end of the movie using decoupage and camera motions. From a narrative viewpoint, modern movies with open ending in movie closure leave some questions, which are posed in the audience’s mind during narration, unanswered in order to encourage them to get mentally entangled with the work and to ponder over it. A number of the directors of the modern cinema prefer to give a close ending to the narration of their works similar to the classical cinema; however, most of them select open ending as the narrative pattern of their works. Open ending adds to the ambiguity of these works in the ending sequence, by means of providing no answer to the cause and effect relationships, created during narration. By creating contradictions in time, place and narration, the ambiguity strategy in the ending sequence leads to the emergence of a challenge inducing a state of undecidedness in the audience’s mind which eventually results in a sense of uncertainty at the end of these works. This state of affairs makes any interpretation and definite conclusion difficult and at times impossible.

Postmodern Animation is the result of the unification of previously overlooked art forms, Experimental Animation and Land Art, leading to the emergence of a new kinetic art form. This type of animation is now considered as one of the most prospering art movements, not only in avant-garde circles but also in the most leading artistic curriculums. Generally, Postmodernism in Animation shows itself in a fully hybrid form which is a combination of artistic styles, experimental methods and self-explored techniques. Although this could be a combination of traditional and modern methods, yet postmodern animation is considered to be the offspring of early Experimental Animations. Experimental Animation itself is the result of personal techniques, commitment, and artistic daring. Today, there are hundreds of independent artist-animators all over the world who are working in various graphic techniques, in direct animation and collage, in computer and video technologies. What they all have in common, and what distinguishes them from their colleagues in entertainment and advertising, is that they work on their own, seeking their own enthusiasm for the medium itself and their desire to develop some technical or artistic aspect of it. In this regard, Fine Art Animation is the new name of an art that began early in this century, when modern artists were eyeing the motion picture as the medium that could add movement to their paintings and graphic designs. Fine Art Animation is the ideal medium through which artists explore the dimensions of the inner world, and examine the possibilities of pure, kinetic, graphic elements. Inspired by this idea of experimentation, the Postmodern animator leaves the confining traditional studios behind and tries to explore and establish his or her own rules by producing free-style fully experimented animations in the abandoned lands, deserts, and suburbs or on the sand beaches. Postmodern animators are like land art artists who consider the motion picture as the medium which could add movement to their installations. Just like land art artists, post modern animator is determined to heighten public awareness of human’s relationship with the natural world by intervening in the landscape. Movement, change, growth and decay are inherent features of nature flows through these artworks. In this regard, musical qualities are influential in both structural and conceptual formation of this type of animation. Outdoor Animation is the enthusiasm for experiment & exploration. Materials of this style of animation are everything: rocks, branches, leaves, sand, and natural forces such as wind, rain and snow; or even consecutive graffiti drawings on walls. By means of Stopmotion photography, artists can create a delightful form of Motion Painting. This technique creates the illusion of movement by physically manipulating real-world objects and photographing them one frame of film at a time. This research aims to define Postmodern Animation as a new emerging art form, and to show how its strong roots laid within the history of Experimental Animation and Land Art through the analysis of its features and elements via presenting different recently produced outdoor animations

In this research, “Siawchamana’’, which is one of the Kurdish Hawrami ancient songs, is investigated. Fortunately, Hawrami people are still singing the contemporary songs. Therefore, they are available to be studied. Transcriptions are categorized in seven items and the poems were translated; different kinds of musical components such as dynamics, tempo, meter and intervals were also studied. Hawraman is located in south-west of Kurdistan and north-west of the Kermanshah provinces in Iran, and also some part of the Iraqi border is considered to be a part of this area. People, in this region, speak Hawrami, which is a dialect of the Kurdish language. The Hawrami music and songs are studied by many researchers. These studies are important and helpful to improve the knowledge about the culture and musicology of the Hawraman area. In these researche, the Hawraman area was, first, studied in terms of geography, linguistic and culture. Then, we focused on music of this area. Siawchamana is the main subject of the discussion. To realize the culture and the music of Hawraman, it is necessary to study their geographical, religious and literal characteristics as well as their customs such as dances or funerals. Since Siawchamana has multi aspect characteristics, this kind of study is inevitable. In this article different subjects as background of this music and its relation to ancient music, meanings of “Siawchamana”, musical forms, possibility of performing Siawchamana with an instrument, the role of customs and musical rituals of Hawraman, poetry and instruments in Hawraman music and the relation of poetry and music have been studied. “Hawrami Music” is full of ritual and the unique sounds. Understanding of this kind of music needs to understand the content of the Code and make it real. Hawrami doesn’t play music and it is singing simply because it doesn’t need instruments for survival. Shemshal is the only instrument that is near to essence of Hawrami’s music. The use of the songs and the relationship between them and the events and celebrations are explained. The Siawchamana songs and their transcription are analyzed and classified in different types. Some songs from maestro Osman Keimnei, a well known Kurdish Hawrami singer, are given at the end

In the history of music, composers have always been seeking new ways to express themselves, and find their own musical language. This struggle has sometimes caused innovations, which were the beginning of new styles in music. Gyorgy Ligeti, as one of the most influential composers of the second half of the 20th century, has a diverse oeuvre as a result of his innovations. His compositions of the 1960s and 1970s have some common characteristics that make them unique. This essay is mostly based on these compositions. Three selected techniques, which are the main topic of this essay, include Klangfarben (sound colors) composition, micropolyphony, and rhythmic chaos. Klangfarben means sound color or timbre, which became popular by the expressionist composers such as Schoenberg. Ligeti was also influenced by this technique and developed this approach through applying different timbres of notes to create his music. For instance, the beginning of his cello concerto (1966) features techniques such as sul ponticello, sul tasto, playing the same note on different strings, playing the same note as a harmonic note, tremolo, non vibrato and non expressive on a single note (E4). The use of a single pitch is an appropriate choice for this purpose as the listener can concentrate on the various colors of the note rather than being distracted by a variety of notes of a beautiful melody. The second technique, which is discussed in the essay, is the micropolyphonic texture which was invented by Ligeti. This texture is a sound mass created by a variety of layers which might look static on surface but are, in fact, dynamic inside. These canon-like layers cannot be distinguished from each other and are meant to be heard as a whole. In this section, two types of clusters will be studied. The first one is static clusters which result from the combination of long-duration layers that might have slight movements. Also, one can find combinations in which each layer consists of short repetitive notes instead of long-held notes. In this type of clusters, each layer plays the short notes on the rest of the other layer, and therefore, the combination sounds complete. Each two successive notes of this type of clusters are heard by two different colors, which results in a relatively light texture. The second type is named dynamic clusters in which layers introduce various notes with fast tempos and moving figures. The third technique, which will be discussed is rhythmic chaos, was first introduced by Ligeti in his Poeme Symphonique (1962). This includes different rhythmic patterns on a limited number of notes to create rhythmic irregularity and chaos. Again, since the concentration of music is on the rhythmic factor, the composer limits the passage to a single or few notes to convey his ideas in a better way.
