Epidemic keratoconjunctivits (EKC) caused by certain species D human adenoviruses (Ads) is a highly contagious severe disease involving both the conjunctiva and cornea. The hallmark of this disease is subepithelial infiltration of leukocytes, which results in corneal opacities that may persist fo months or even years.
In this case study of a 6-month old infant, we report symblepharon formation, a relatively rare outcome of EKC. In this condition, the palpebral conjunctiva adheres tightly to the bulbar conjunctiva of the eyeball. Our report is the first documenting symblepharon formation in an infant. Only two similar cases have been reported to date; therefore, a detailed description is of considerable interest to ophthalmologists, particularly given a previous publication associating symblepharon formation with an adenovirus infection, which is usually not involved in EKC.
Development of symblepharon following EKC is very rare in infants. Particularly, if topical treatment cannot be applied due to severe eyelid edema, oral steroid therapy can be administered with pediatric consultation and strict monitoring.

Atropine has been used for more than a century by small groups of researchers to arrest myopia progression, and lately has gathered compelling evidence of its protective effect from well-designed clinical studies, mainly performed during the last two decades. However its exact mechanism of action is an unsettled issue. Experimental finding has shown that it is not related to accommodation, as it was thought for decades. We reviewed the published literature on the topic, and found that a significant amount of evidence supports its safety and efficacy both in 1% and lower concentrations (as low as 0,01%).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of mechanical implantation of MyoRing in keratoconic patients with high myopia.
This study comprised 32 eyes of 32 keratoconic patients (14 males, 18 females) with high myopia. All underwent MyoRing (Dioptex GmbH) implantation using mechanical dissection with a Pocket Maker Microkeratome and completed three months of follow-up. The main outcome measures of the study were preoperative and postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), manifest refraction, and keratometry readings.
The mean age of patients was 29.6 ± 6.7years (range 20–44 years). A significant diference was seen in the spherical equivalent refractive error when compared final postoperative examination to preoperative one (-10.51 ± 2.81 D to -1.32 ± 2.29 D) (P˂0.001). The mean UDVA (log MAR) improved significantly from 1.14 ± 0.32 to 0.35 ± 0.24 (P˂0.001) and the mean CDVA (log MAR) improved from 0.47 ± 0.20 to 0.22 ± 0.15 (P˂0.001) postoperatively. The mean of sphere and cylinder of manifest refraction was reduced significantly by 7.70 and 2.6 diopters (D) respectively (p

To identify and describe factors relating to quality of life (QOL) for subjects with low vision and blindness in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan province, this research designed.
This cross sectional study was done on subjects with vision disability who randomly selected and covered by the Zahedan Welfare Organization, Zahedan, Iran. Evaluations were made for the following factors related to visual impairment including visual field (VF), visual acuity (VA) and stereopsis. Data were collected using two questionnaires, demographic and Influence of vision impairment (IVI).
One handered twenty one patients were enrolled for participation in the study. T-test analysis showed the mean score of QOL for women (79.83, SD: 23.30) was significantly lower than that for men (105.66, SD: 22.56) (p

We aimed determine normal macular thickness by using Cirrus HD-OCT in Rasht city, Iran.
In this cross-sectional survey, 112 were selected with random sampling. All subjects underwent complete eye examinations. Both eyes of each patient were evaluated. Optional protocol was macular thickness MAP with macular cub 512×128 and the average thickness of the retina was determined in 9 ETDRS regions. To assess the reproducibility and the degree of the system trust, in 10 healthy subjects the thickness of the retina was measured up to 5 times and then the coefficient of variation was measured for each individual.
The coefficient of variation of macular thickness within 1mm of center was 0.15-1.33%. The mean ± SD of Central subfield thickness (CST), Macular thickness( MT), Macular volume (MV) were 245.44±20.39 µm, 277.9±11.95 µm and 9.98±0.43mm3 respectively. The mean CST (p
