Inspired by their predecessors, Jihadi Salafists consider democracy as forbidden, a form of associating partner with Allah, heresy and idolatry. They argue that democracy is opposed to oneness of sovereignty or the concept of divine unity and it is also in contravention with what Allah, the Exalted, has revealed in the Quran; it is synonymous with idolatry or Taghut and that is the reason why democracy is viewed by Jihadi Salafists and their followers as heresy. Contrary to them, the proponents of democracy are of the view that by adopting democracy as a procedure – not religion – it is possible to adhere to divine laws and reconcile between Islam and democracy and respond to the antagonistic and spurious arguments put forth by the opponents .

The seizure of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) by Juhayman al-'Otaybi and his ‎comrades is a turning point in the history of Salafism in the contemporary era. There are ‎different analyses as to the effect of Juhayman's uprising and his thoughts on Salafism in the ‎decades following his death. This article is an analytical descriptive study relying on existing ‎sources to substantiate the fact that the modern Salafism in general and Al-Qaeda in ‎particular have been, by and large, influenced by Juhayman's uprising and thoughts. In view ‎of the different missions, goals and areas of the activities of Al-Qaeda and contemporary ‎Salafism, this study aims to ascertain the causes and areas of Juhayman's influence on other ‎Salafi movements. Also, efforts have been made to identify the key figures responsible for ‎the transfer of this legacy‎.

The validity of a solitary report (khabar al-wahid) transmitted by a just person is a point of ‎contention and debate among Muslims. Ahl-e Hadith and Wahhabis mostly maintain that not ‎only acting upon a solitary report is permissible in matters of belief; but some contemporary ‎scholars have as far as to say that acting upon a solitary report is obligatory in beliefs. To ‎authenticate their claims, this group has taken recourse to Quranic verses and prophetic ‎traditions. There is no doubt that the arguments presented by these people are deficient and ‎cannot prove their point. Likewise, some Wahhabi scholars have claimed consensus over the ‎authoritativeness of a solitary report but the discrepancies existing among religious scholars ‎over this issue quite well indicate that the alleged consensus does not exist. In fact what is ‎claimed to be authoritative with regards to reports passed on by just single reporters is only a ‎theory. When it comes to practice, they even consider weak reports as authoritative and, ‎therefore, act upon them. ‎This article seeks to study the views of proponents and opponents of the authoritativeness of ‎solitary reports in the area of beliefs focusing on viewpoints of Wahhabism. It concludes that ‎the assertion of some Salafis, especially Wahhabi scholars, on the authoritativeness of solitary ‎reports is not correct and does not prove their claim. Therefore, it is wrong to use solitary and ‎single reports in establishing divine attributes or in matters appertaining to divine decree, ‎seeing God and some other ideological tenets, and such reports cannot lead to formation of ‎beliefs‎.

According to Ibn Taymiyyah, 'ibadah (lit. worship) means extreme humbleness twixt with love. This perspective of worship has become a yardstick for determining and differentiating Islam from disbelief and heresy. However, unfortunately, in spite of this definition being against Ibn Taymiyyah's salafist and literalist foundations – because there is no trace of this definition in the words of his predecessors nor is the outward meaning of this word in harmony with the above definition – there are multiple other problems with this definition since it is not inclusive and exclusive. That is, there are acts excluded which are certainly acts of worship and there are acts included which are not acts of worship, not to mention the fact that there is no reason to prove that the definition is correct. Furthermore, it runs counter to the Holy Quran, opposes some established acts of worship, counters the preference of the acts of worship as well as some definitions offered by prominent Sunni scholars. In fact, even if none of the criticisms is supposedly in place and the definition is presumed to be correct, it is still not qualified to prove shirk and the said practices cannot be labeled as disbelief because such kinds of worship cannot be established and ascertained by anyone and therefore no one can be accused or worshipping someone other than God. That is because love is an inward characteristic, and to prove the purpose of love with humbleness is possible only for those who are well aware of the hearts and minds of other people. Who can make such a claim? Keeping in view these problems which entail multiple misgivings and doubts about establishing the acts of worship and considering that the divine rules are rendered null by these doubts, another question would arise as to the basis of excommunication as to how someone is sentenced to death and none of the said problems prevent the implementation of any of these divine rules. The issues raised in these few passages which, in fact, provide counter-response to Ibn Taymiyyah's definition constitute the subject of this research.

This article provides a comparative study of the viewpoints of Wahabism and the Hanafi School of jurisprudence concerning prostration at the graves of awlia i.e. the noble servants of God. At first, the manifestations are discussed from the perspective of these sects and the article goes on mentioning and discussing the permissibility of four manifestations including construction of a mosque near or in front of the grave of pious people, building a tomb or structure over the graves, praying and reciting Quran near the graves. These topics have been investigated and dealt with comparatively and it has been clarified that Hanafite scholars do not have a single standpoint towards the aforementioned practices but, as compared to Wahabism, they do have a more moderate approach.

Muslims generally believe that the dead can hear the speech of living people. However, some Wahhabi scholars such as Albani have denied hearing of the dead and the book entitled "Ayatul Bayyiniat fi ‘adm sama’ il Amwat 'inda al-Hanafiyah al-Sadāt” makes the same assertion. In the annotation of this book, Albani mentions some of his important arguments concerning dead hearing which we have touched upon and dealt with in this study. It has been proved that those who deny the possibility of the dead possessing this faculty do not have sound and correct understanding of religious teachings concerning the soul and the intermediate life. In view of Albani's contradictory words, this conviction (i.e. negation of dead hearing) derives from an ontological perspective, one that is rooted in sensationalism and empiricist thoughts.
