Assesment of the Urban Environmental Quality in New towns (Case study: Hashtgerd New town)
Importance of the environmental quality for other aspects of life, the specific nature of residential environments, the increasing role of urban residential environments as the main habitat of humans, and the numberof people adversely affected by the prevailing condition of their urban residential environment, explained the necessity of investigation of urban environmental quality. This paper has been designated with the goal of assessing the urban environmental quality and presenting a pattern in order to assess environmental quality and recognize the influential criteria. This research tries to describe and explain the concept of environmental quality, as well as examines the influential criteria and their assessment in urban environments. The basis for assessment of environmental quality in Hashtgerd new town is satisfaction index of urban environmental quality from the habitant's viewpoints. The methodology of the assessing the urban quality is set upon the multi-attribute decision methods (Confirmatory Factorial Analysis Method), and also the used model is upon the exiting experiences and the case study of Hashtgerd new town. Based on research findings, new town Hashtgerd's urban environmental quality from the habitants’ viewpoints is in a low level. OF course, conditions in two levels of 1) urban environmental quality and 2) habitat environmental quality of new town Hashtgerd are different, so that, habitat environmental quality in Hashtgerd new town is better than the urban environmental quality. Also, Examination of different attributes shows that only satisfaction of access and roads network, home size, home facilities and current costs attributes exist.
