Different treatments effects on improvement of germination properties in Atriplex canescens and Atriplex lentiformis

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different treatments on seed germination in; Atriplex canescens and Atriplex lentiformis. An experiment was performed using 12 treatments and 4 replications in a completely randomized design. Treatments included KNO3 with concentrations of 0. 1 and 0. 2 percent for 72 hours، sulfuric acid (60%) for 5 and 10 minutes، immersion in hot water for five minutes، acetylsalicylic acid 100، 200 and 300 mg L-1، pretreatment with thiourea (SC(NH2) 2) 0. 1 and 0. 3 percent for 72 hours and prechilling for 20 days. distilled water was used as the control. Germination properties included germination percentage، germination rate and mean germination time. Our findings indicate that 0. 1 KNO3 and 100 mg L-1 acetylsalicylic acid were the most effective treatments for improvement of seed germination percentage in A. lentiformis and A. canescens، respectively.
