Language of Poetry and Love

One of the most typical kinds of poetry in which the poet reveals his internal feelings and emotions is lyric or love-poem. The use of mystical and commendatory concepts in this type of poetry in the Persian lyrics is more extensive than European ones. Composing Lyric poems in the Persian language has commenced since the middle of the third century i.e., from the beginning of the Dari poetry period. The most ancient lyrics which could be found in the literature have been left by Hanzale Badgheissi. However, the lyric poems in the Persian literature attained perfection in the fourth century and the first charming Persian lyric poems were composed by Roudaki, and were culminated in Farrokhi’s works in the first half of the fifth century. A flavor of love is mostly felt in some poems of Anvari, Zahir Faryabi, Khaghani, Nezami, and Jalaleddin mohammadebne Abdolrazzagh. Sanaie’s lyrics in the sixth century and those of Attar in the seventh century have special privileges. Material and mystical lyrics have been culminated by Sadi and Molana respectively, and their works paved the way for the emergence of the Persian lyric genius, Lessanol Gheib Hafiz Shirazi, in the eighth century. Afterwards, Persian lyric poems were repeated in contents and meanings and in general no extraordinary creativity has been observed in this regard since then.
