Abstract:
One of the main goals of education is the socialization of students. This entails to prepare them for active and constructive participation in ommunity life, to inform them of their rights and the right to exploit it, to respect the rights of others, and to cooperate with other people. One of the ways to interest students for social activities and decision making is to invoke their participation in peer groups and councils of the schools. In this context, the present paper utilizes a qualitative approach (interviews), to investigate the role of student participation in school governance through school-based management approach with emphasis on the student council.Representative sample of schools is selected from among non-profit, public and Shahed boys and girls schools of Babolsar. For data analysis, the responses to each question were written separately. The resulting fields in each category of responses were identified, and then summing the results showed that a reasonable implementation of the student council plan in Babolsar deserves the attention to points that are mentioned in the result part of the papar.
