Iranian Intellectual's Outlook on European Involvement in the Middle East: 2004-2010

This article seeks to examine the role Europe plays in the Middle East from the Iranian intellectuals’ outlook. The article mainly focuses upon the notions which take shape as a result of events, trends and structural changes. On this basis, the main thrust of the article is to demonstrate the presence of a notion called ‘decreased trust in Europe’ in the mentality of Iranian academics and researchers. A questionnaire has been designed in order to explore how the notion in question was constructed considering the fact that it is impossible to understand the Middle East issues and European involvement in them without considering the role the United States as the influential superpower plays in it. The findings of the questionnaire have been presented in the article.
