Hormuz's Role in the economic exchanges of Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean in 8th and 9th century

Abstract:
The district of Persian Gulf and its commercial centers have played their lasting role in economic exchanges of the East, especially of the Indian Ocean distinct. Hormuz Island gained an economic, commercial and strategic importance for the sake of its geographical position and being in the ways of famous and historical roads that are known as the Silk way and the spice way. The historical incidents of the Hormuz Island show that it became the center of economic and commercial exchanges during the eight and nine century and was replaced Kish and Siraf. This matter occurred by the help and policies of the kings of Hormuz (Moluke Hormuz) in providing security and their care of maritime trade. They made the most benefit of Hormuz position and gained a mighty power that could have had a great role in the economic events of the area. In this paper the economic role of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean district would be discussed.
