The study of the factors influencing on successful implementation of manager's succession plan: A case study

Abstract:
Succession planning aims to prepare talented human resources inside agencies for taking over key, sensitive and strategic positions. Accordingly, one of the important issues for any organization and its beneficiaries is the subject of succession, that is, potential people who will take the responsibility of leading the organizations. It goes without saying that there needs to be contexts for implementing any successful succession planning. The current study intends to investigate the preparedness degree of the organization under study in successful execution of succession planning and talent management. For this reason, one main hypothesis and nine subordinate ones were developed and necessary data for analyzing the research hypotheses were collected through consulting the documents and organizational data and questionnaires. The population was selected using stratified, random sampling and single-sample t-test was employed for data analysis. Four hypotheses including "continuously supporting and directing of managers", "positive and optimistic view of managers to human resource and their capabilities", " the relationship between experienced and aging managers and young and educated employees", and "the existence of an active and equipped unit of human resource management in an agency" were rejected and the rest were rejected. The analysis of the main hypothesis reveals that the degree of preparedness the organization under study for successful implementation of succession planning stands at the higher level.
