The Role of Police in Preventing Theft of Antiquities in Jiroft City

The main objective of this research is to achieve optimal performance of police in preventing theft of antiquities. This study has been conducted in survey method and the statistical population consists of police officers cultural heritage organization counterintelligence unit and cultural heritage experts within Jiroft city. Data collection was carried out using both library and field study. According to the text of the research, five hypotheses have been formulated, namely, police new technology, police on-time notification, police physical presence in historical sites, police interaction with other governmental organizations, and training police personnel with cultural heritage. For these hypotheses, six, ten, ten, eight, and seven questions were designed, respectively, and compiled as a 41-item questionnaire. Then, the data were designed and gathered using Likert scale. With statistical analysis of hypotheses using one-sample t-test, all of them were confirmed. In order to prioritize the role of police in preventing historical objects theftthe Friedman analysis of variance was used. The priority was set as follows: new technology, police interaction with other governmental organizations, officers’ physical presence, personnel training, and notification.
