The effect of training nonverbal communication in social competency of elementary students

Abstract:
Introduction
This research is an attempt to investigate the effect of training nonverbal communication in social competency of elementary students in the city.
Method
The present study was done by pre-test and post-test design with control group and experiment group. The sample groups were 80 girls and boys who were selected by multiple stage cluster sampling. They were randomly assigned to experimental group (n=40) and control group (n=40). Members of experimental groups attended to non-verbal communication training in 8 sessions. The tool of the study was Kohn Social Competence Questionnaire. Data was analyzed through covariance analysis.
Results
The result revealed that intervention program increased social competence. Also the results showed the effects of training non-verbal communication and gender is significant.
