Ethnicity News Coverage in Azerbaijan Local TV

The present study aims to shed lights on the way news related to Turkish and Kurdish ethnic groups are covered in local television in Azerbaijan, northwestern Iran. For the purpose of this research, the newscasts presented in Turkish and Persian within the first three month of the year 1391 (Iranian Calendar) were content analyzed. The research findings indicate that, given Turkish and Kurdish ethnic groups demography, there was a significant difference between these two groups in terms of the allocated time, news strategy, being event-based or process-based and the location of reporters. The conclusion is that distributive justice (in terms of time), procedural justice (event-based or process-based) and informational justice (in terms of news values) were not served to these two ethnic groups.
