Simulation of retrofitting conventional Depropanizer- Debutanizer Columns System to a Divided Wall Column by using Aspen Plus

Distillation is one of the most common separation processes in chemical industries because of its simplicity and technically mature. Distillation is used for 95% of all fluid separations and it is using around 3% of the total energy consumption s in the world. Utilization of Petlyuk and Divided Wall Columns (DWC) has been a major concern for the industries. DWC can reduce up to 25% of capital cost up to 35% reduction in operation cost and up to 40% saving in plant space. Use of DWC can help reducing the global warming. In the present study the potential of retrofitting conventional depropanizer- debutanizer columns system to a Divided Wall Column has been investigated by simulation with Aspen Plus. Retrofitting is seem to be feasible and recommend to industry.
