A study of the reason of selecting a name for Quranic Surahs

Holy Quran is replete with meanings and concepts and it is the best Divine gift and guide to lead human. It follows a certain discipline in expressing its meanings and concepts. It divides into parts and surahs. It includes 114 surahs whose names indicate the main intention and its theme. The main purpose of the surah can be found out by its name. Selecting a name for Quranic surahs are in accordance with a special category as follows; Moghatae Letters such as TAHA, YASIN,…, and also, the name of prophets and religious men, the name of animals, etc. By historical-commentarial method, we will discuss the name of some surahs and the reason of selecting a name to them in this paper.
