The Effectiveness of " Philosophy for Children" Program on Anger Management in First Grade High school Boys in Tehran

Abstract:
The present study is aimed to investigate whether Philosophy for Children program could have any significant impact on controlling and reducing anger of first grade boys. It is designed in an experimental manner and the data is accumulated by the use of pretest and post-test. The participants are selected based on multi-level cluster sampling and the population includes all first grade high school boys in zone 14 of Tehran in the academic year of 1391-1392. A total number of 60 students were selected and divided into an experimental and a control group، with 30 students in each group. In order to collect data، Spielberger’s State and Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-2) are utilized and Covariance analysis (ANCOVA) is used to examine the difference between the means of the two groups. The findings verify the validity and reliability of the program in controlling and reducing children’s anger along with its four components including the need of verbal anger expression، the need of physical anger expression، angry temperament and expressing or holding onto anger.
