An Analysis of Sudabeh and Syndokht's Characters in Shahnameh

One way of identifying women in each community to assess the political, economic, social and cultural development is in the work of literature such as Shahnameh of Ferdowsi. The purpose of the present paper is to analyze the behavior and action of Sudabeh and Syndokht's epic based on their personality type. Sudabeh has a sensational character and that is why she tries to achieve what she wants. But due to patriarchal attitudes in society towards her, there is always a negative view. The other part of the paper is about positive and negative reactions towards these two characters which were analyzed based on feminist theories. In Patriarchal society, women are kept away from politics; unlike Sudabeh this would not be so popular with his behavior. Syndokht has a self-devoted character. If he engages in politics, his engagement is to support his family and not for any political reasons for gaining power political so his behavior pattern is typical of a good woman in a patriarchal society.
