Abstract:
The present article aims to examine the effect of mass media on university students’ political awareness. This study was conducted on 160 students, both male and female from Isfahan University. Characterizing political awareness as a three-variable category (being aware of political concepts, political institutions, political history) and considering three types of mass communication tools (press, broadcast and digital media), we found out that there is a significant correlation between press media, broadcast and digital media in terms of consumption with such categories as awareness of political concepts, political institutions and political history. The findings also showed that the consumption of digital media has a positive but insignificant relation with awareness of political concepts.
