THE COMPARISONS OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY DIMENSIONS AND QUALITY OF LIFE (QOL) IN female STUDENTs WITH AND WITHOUT BODY DISMORPHIC DISORDER
Preoccupation with body deformities interrelates with the body's physical defect. This study tries to investigate the quality of life and psychopathology of the female students with body dysmorphic disorder.
This casual-comparative study was a multi-stage study with a random sample of 85 out of 600 students with body dysmorphic disorder who were selected and compared with 85 healthy students. The data were gathered by using three questionnaires with 90 items (SCL -90 – R), based on quality of life form of World Health Organisation (WHO). Multivariate analysis of variance method (MANOVA) was performed.
The results indicated that there was a significant difference between two groups in quality of life and psychopathology dimensions. (p<0/001).
The results indicated that student with body dismorphic disorder had low quality of life and high psychopathology dimensions. Therefore, it is vital to care for quality of life and psychopathology of individuals with dismorphic body.
