Interactional pathology between parents and their married children

The purpose of This study was investigating the pathological interactions between parents and their married childrens. The present study is divided into two parts.. Methodology in initial part was qualitative research، in which theoretical texts and researches were investigated. Then، one purposive sample (including 36 individuals) selected for semi-structured interview and most significant interactional damages between couples and their original families explored. Then، information from interviews and books and scientific articles was combined to produce a questionnaire for assessment the interactional damages. In second part of this study that was a cross-sectional and descriptive research، mentioned questionnaire completed by 135 individuals (including 85 women and 50 men). Data were analyzed by frequency، mean، standard deviation، and t test. Results of The study showed that the most important damages according to qualitative viewpoint are dependency، inappropriate expectations، disregarding، interference and negative behaviors. in an quantitative section of study results showed that emotional dependency، aberrant parental expectations، parental disregarding، and parental interference with the highest averages are most important damages. In addition، results showed that scores in two subscales، financial dependency and aberrant married childrens expectations، are significantly more about sons than daughters. The results of this study is applicable in developing the theoretical texts in the fields of psychopathology; and Marriage and Family Counseling.
