'The Book of Seal's of the Safavid King Shah Suleiman

Abstract:
Purpose
This paper examines a number of manuscripts of a treatise that lists the seals of the Safavid king. The purpose has been to prepare a reliable and complete edition of it. The document is one of the few resources that explain almost every aspect of a Safavid King’s seals in detail. The treatise is written during Shah Suleiman''s lifetime by his secretaries، apparently after Suleiman''s second enthronement. This is a highly valuable document for the study of documents and seals in post-Islam Iran. Method/Research Design: Historical method was employed; data was gathered from Munshaat (=secretarial essays) and primary resources. Findings and
Conclusion
The «Seal book of Shah Suleiman» and another treatise from the time of Shah Sultan Hussain (1694–1722) seem to be trustworthy and complementary. The shape and usage of the twelve seals of the Safavid kings are mentioned in both. In the description of each seal changes in the shape، size and the rhyme of the seal are mentioned. It seems the design and calligraphy of the seals remained unchanged since the time of Shah Tahmasb (1524–1576) and followed the same regulations and rules.
