An examination of Jami's views on redacting, and its application in Asha t al-Lama aat being a commentary on Iraqi's Lama aat

Certain studies have been conducted on the great treasure of Persian manuscripts, which seem hardly enough though, compared with the volume of work yet undone. One of the issues calling for urgent investigation is the past generations’ attitude towards variations of Persian manuscripts, a topic scantily dealt with, thus an enormous number of questions have been left unaddressed. Answers to such questions will demonstrate part of our unattended culture, and can most probably be of benefit in today’s critical editing of manuscripts. Here we plan to show Jami’s stand on the variant manuscripts of Iraqi’s Lama’aat and, then, we will briefly discuss his judgment and the validity or otherwise of his views, summarizing his comments in the end.
