Music Information Retrieval in Query- By-Humming (QBH) Systems: A New Question Regarding the Application of Harmonica Vibrato

The present article aims at providing a new question regarding the application of harmonica vibrato for music information retrieval in query-by-humming (QBH) systems. This study reviews the related literature of sting and wind instruments vibrato; and hence is a documentary research. It is at the same time a qualitative research from the content analysis and interpretation of the literature viewpoint. The present article defines Harmonica as a wind instrument and discusses the concept of vibrato as the enhancer of the instrument’s voice. It also provides the general model of Query-By-Humming (QBH) music information retrieval systems and brings forward a new question to system developers from the viewpoint of Harmonica vibrato’s applicability in QBH systems. The research concludes that developing a new system capable of understanding the vibrato is essential. Such a system will help novice users of music databases to easily access to any track.
