Blended Learning in Higher Education: Theoretical Foundations In Second Language Learning

Abstract:
Blended learning has been developed in university teaching out of the need to better describe and understand it between critics and advocates of technology in education. In second language learning “computer- assisted language learning“has alwaybeen concerned. In the field of instructional technology the trajectory of computer usage in language classroom has moved form a primary focus to everyday practices. Current definitions of the CALL now stress full integration of technology. The aim of this article is to introduce the concept of blended approaches to second language learning. To achieve this aim, we first provide an overview of blended learning, look briefly at the use of technology in language education and related researchesand end with four considerations that shape an understanding of the successful integration of technology in language learning.
