The Grant-Based Research System at Shahed University: from Regulations to Administration

Abstract:
Grant in university refers to budget which is allocated to a faculty member for doing research on the bases of an agreement. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the grant-based research system and faculty member satisfaction of its system at Shahed University. Data has been obtained through questionnaire and interview method. The questions were built on the latest grant rules and regulations at the university in LIKERT scale. Sample available among faculty member (114 persons) was used for doing the study. The questionnaire was distributed among accessible faculties of the Shahed University. The results showed that the maximum mean of satisfaction is about book publishing and the least mean of satisfaction belongs to master thesis. There were no great differences regarding to the grant-based research system between faculties. In general, total satisfaction rate was at medium level. Result of interview shows that following factors have been negatively affected the satisfaction rate: preparing list price, financial settlements, low grant budget.
