Entrepreneurship Management Education in Agricultural Colleges
Many of agricultural graduated in spite of having technical agricultural knowledge; due to lack of management skills refrain from doing entrepreneurship activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the Competencies needed for Entrepreneurs and strategies that university can undertake in order to be able to create these competencies for students, in two phases. The first phase used qualitative Approach to determine competencies of entrepreneurs and strategies that university can undertake to create these competencies. Data were collected through semi-structured interview with 12 entrepreneurs university Graduates in Kurdistan province. The sampling method was Purposive sample. Finally a list of competencies through interview with entrepreneurs was created. In the second phase of this study we used a questionnaire as an instrument. The population of this study is consisting of 60 entrepreneurs of Kurdistan province and we used Census study due to the shortage of entrepreneurs. Borich needs Assessment model used to determine the Competencies needed for Entrepreneurs. Results revealed that 12 Competencies as perceived important by Entrepreneurs. The top three Competencies were Technical competencies, writing plan and program planning. 14 strategies that university can undertake to create these competencies, recognized and prioritized, from which we can point out: Create linkage between university and entrepreneurs centers, sending students to successful entrepreneurs centers to gain practical experience and using successful entrepreneurs to teach students.
