The relationship of parenting patterns and birth order with procrastination in high school girl students of Amol city

The main objective of the present research is the investigation of the relationship of parenting patterns¡ birth-order-based status of individual in family and educational procrastination as well as determination of prediction capability of these two variables in predicting degree of students’ educational procrastination. Studied sample includes 310 female students of Amol town educating in secondary education. This sample was randomly selected by cluster method. In order to collect data¡ questionnaires of Talkman’s procrastination¡ Robinson’s et al parenting methods¡ and one sociological questionnaire were used. In order to analyze data¡ statistical tests of mean¡ standard deviation¡ Pearson and Spearman’s correlation¡ multivariate regression analysis¡ and one-way variance analysis were employed. Results indicated the fact that mother’s despotic¡ indulgent¡ and authoritative parenting patterns along with fathers’ authoritative parenting with determination coefficient 0/24 are significant predictors for educational procrastination. Also¡ according to results¡ it became clear that birth order is not generally a significant predictor for this variable¡ and according to results of one-way variance analyses¡ there was found no significant difference in degree of educational procrastination of students with different birth order.
