The Constructional Phrasal words in Persian: Lexicon - syntax Continuum

In this article, {XPX} constructions will be studied. Many linguists were interested in this construction because of its specific characteristics and non-correspondence to X’- theory. This study has: two main goals: 1) The previous analysis will be evaluated to display that these type of linguistic patterns are constructions.2) They will be analyzed on the basis of Construction Grammar. Their syntactic and semantic investigation show that these phrasal words are grouped into gradable continuum. They are classified into two main groups in Persian: 1) those can be occurred in both Ezafe and Light verb constructions. 2) Those are only used in Ezafe Constructions. The latter are more productive than the former. The ultimate conclusion of this study is to predict the Lexicon- Syntax interface regarding the operation of these phrasal words.
