Investigation of affecting Factors on morphology and coke reduction rate in thermal cracking reactors
Author(s):
Abstract:
Thermal cracking of hydrocarbons is one of the most important industrial processes which results are Olefin products including Ethylene and Propylene as desirable products. The undesirable process is Coke formation which causes several problems in thermal cracking reactors such as: heat transfer reduction, increase the pressure drop in the reactor, fuel consumption increase, shortening the life of the reactor, and so on. Consequently, we can decrease such undesirable affects with choosing proper alloy on reactors construction and also using right feed or some inhibitors. In this article we investigated reduction of coke formation and Structural changes by using Light and heavy Naphtha as common feedstock entering the reactor and Heptane as a feedstock without sulfur, Nickel alloys like HP mod, HP mic, SS316 and SS304 and also using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM/EDAX analysis) as an analysis way to view.
