Women security feeling in public spaces: Case study of Mashhad

Abstract:
Background
The overall objectives of this research is to measure safety feeling in women of 15 years old and older in Mashhad, Iran.Methodology
The study was conducted on the form of a survey using questionnaire. The society of research is composed of women of 15 years of age and older residing in Mashhad of whom 1000 persons selected via Two-stage cluster sampling Technique. The Data were analyzed on Descriptive and Inferential Statistics level.Findings: The outcome of the research shows a considerable distance between the present situation of security feeling in women and the desirable condition. The notable point is the low level of moral safety in the society. Underpasses and private vehicles are most insecure locations and situations from the respondents point of view. Parks and the limited area surrounding the respondents place of residence are on the next level in this regard. Buses, Pedestrian bridges and cabs are locations where women feel more secure.
Conclusion
The findings of the research are worrying with regard the importance of women status in our religious society.Keywords:
