A study and ranking of Hormozgan: s cities based on the cultural indexes using multiple-index decision making method

The purpose of this study is to investigate the cultural status of Hormozgan›s cities, and to prioritize them. The statistical society of this study is Hormozgan› s province with its thirteen cities. These cities include Abumousa, Bastak, Bashagard, Bandare Abbas, Bandare Lenge, Parsian, Jask, Hajiabad, Khamir, Roudan, Sirik, Qeshm, and Minab. The method used in this research is multiple decision making method and specifically TOPSIS technique. To apply TOPSIS technique, first data matrix was formed, and then different steps of this technique including quantifying and un-scaling of matrix, calculating balanced un-scale matrix, determining ideal positive and ideal negative solution, determining the distance of each option to the positive and negative ideals, determining the relative closeness of each option to the ideal solution, and finally ranking of options were performed. The results show that city of Bandar Abbas is the best option and then respectively there are Minab, Jask, Bandar Lengeh, Roudan, Bastak, Qeshm, Hajiabad, Parsian, and Abumousa. It is hoped that the analysis used in his research would be useful for Hormozgan› s cultural authorities in planning and making policies for improving the cultural status.
