An efficient and integrated model for scheduling of railway yard considering receiving yard, humping yard, classification yard, and departure yard using greedy heuristic algorithm

Abstract:
This paper present to simultaneously resolving the complex problem of outbound trains scheduling and objectives of railroad humping yard at the rail transport systems. Thus, it trying by suggest a new scheduling model for block to track assignment and humping yard problems in the railroad yard with four parts of receiving yard, hump yard, classification yard and departure yard. This paper is working on the railcars flow in the all yards, so that the fluid flow of load units and block in railcars will be occurred by sequence operations and scheduling of unloading and load classification inbound train, and other hand, solving the problem of how to allocate category blocks to outbound tracks in the best dwell time of blocks in route. This paper integrated four problem in four yards by define a unique mixed integer programming. For this work, in first part of, took place initially information gathering and extensive technical analysis on the problem and available resources. According to field studies have been conducted and data’s provided in the literature, present an efficient and attractive mixed integer programming model. Finally, suggest two solution methods for solving it. Primarily, use the Gams software and second way design a heuristic greedy algorithm for this NP-hard problem.
