A Study of verb Tense in Ancient Translation of Ghods Quran

Message:
Abstract:
Tense is one of the main components of a verb which has been used in different forms by different nations. Since the ancient translation of Ghods Quran is a literal translation, it has established an adaptive relationship between Persian and Arabic. This translation has presented different verb tenses in ancient forms with phonetic changes or proportional to some of the common dialects, and in some cases, in some special forms.
In this study, different verbs used by the translator of Ghods Quran are examined carefully regarding tense. The relationship of this translation with New Persian and Middle Persian indicates its antiquity. This relationship is seen in using the morphological part “be-” at the head of past, future and imperative conjugations, and in using “-y” in past verb endings and special forms of some verbs. This study resulted in finding a variety of Persian verbs used in Ghods Quran and reflects some evolutions that have occurred in some of these verbs.
