The assessment of grammatical content of some Persian language sources in pedagogical grammar perspective

Abstract:
Grammar is an area of language which has been always investigated due to its particular and complicated nature. The present study is to answer the question of the nature of pedagogical grammar and its representation in Persian language sources specifically designed for non-Iranians. Therefore in this experimental and descriptive study, the first step is to analyze the English language books considering the pedagogical framework defined by council of Europe and the relation between notions, functions and grammatical forms. Next is to assess the grammatical content of Persian books regarding teaching the three elements mentioned. The results indicate that pedagogical grammar is weakly seen in Persian sources and that their grammatical content is more linear than spiral due to absence of a common criterion in curriculum planning of books above- mentioned.
