Rumination, Depressive Symptoms and Anxiety Symptoms on Stutter Disorder and Social Phobia

Abstract:
Aim: The aim of this research was to investigate the rumination, depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms in stutter disorder and social phobia.
Methods
18 adolescents with stuttering and 18 adolescents with social phobia and 18 adolescents without Stuttering were selected through an accessible Sampling method. The subjects completed a Response Styles Questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory-II and Beak Anxiety Inventory. The adolescents Who Stutter and control participants were matched for age, Education level, economic situation Family and Parent's educational level.
Results
The findings revealed significant differences rumination, depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms in two groups (social phobia and stuttering) with normal group.
Conclusion
rumination, depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms are definite problems for many adolescents who stutter. Clinical implications of these findings for the diagnosis and treatment of adolescents who stutter.
