Preconditioning Effect of Aerobic Exercise with D3 Vitamin Consumption on VEGF levels in the 6-OHDA Lesioned Parkinson's Disease Rat Model

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was the preconditioning effect of aerobic exercise with d3 vitamin consumption on VEGF levels in the 6-ohda lesioned Parkinson's disease rat model. 48 male rats with the age of 7 weeks and weight 250-300 gr, randomly divided to 6 groups: healthy control, Parkinson’s control, sham, exercise -Parkinson, vitamin- Parkinson, exercise vitamin - Parkinson. The exercise groups, exercised for 4 weeks, 5 days per week for 30 minutes on treadmill at a speed of 15 meters per minute and with a slope of zero. The vitamin groups, received vitamin d3 for 4 weeks, 2 days per week and with a dose of 1 mg/kg of body weight. After 4 weeks of exercise and d3 vitamin consumption, was created an experimental model of Parkinson's disease using stereotactic surgery and injections of 6-hydroxy dopamine in the striatum. 3 weeks after this, Apo morphine rotational test was conducted in order to verify the parkinsonian rats and then were measured VGEF levels in the striatum by Elisa method after destruction and extraction of the striatum of the rats’ brain. The results show that, 4 weeks’ treadmill aerobic exercise with d3 vitamin consumption, before 6-hydroxy-dopamine induction, could significantly increase VGEF levels in the striatum (P≤0.005). In general, the results of this study showed that preconditioning with aerobic exercise with d3 vitamin can be caused increasing of dopaminergic neurons protection against degradation resulting of 6-hydroxy dopamine by increasing the levels of VGEF and play a protective role in Parkinson's disease.
