Determine the effect of storytelling in public libraries on the creativity of preschool children: An experimental research

Abstract:
Purpose
the present study has been done to determine the effect of storytelling on the creativity of 5-6 years old children which are member of Imam Ali Public Library of Yazd.
Method
the method of study is experimental research with a pretest-posttest with control group and a random selection. The research population included 60, 5-6 years old children which are member Imam Ali Public Library of Yazd. These members were divided in two groups, 30 children were randomly in control group and 30 children in experimental group. The instrument of this research is pictorial B form of Torrrance test of creativity thinking and the data were analyzed by one-way and two-way Corians test.
Findings: The mean value of creativity of experimental group children that received storytelling variable was 0/34 more than the mean value of creativity of control group .Thus, storytelling was 0/34 effective on the creativity for pre elementary children. In the other dimension, creativity of storytelling has effect as 0/21 on the initiative and expansion if experimental group in posttest was 0/19 more than pretest. Therefore, in testing research hypothesis, it is found that there is a significant relationship between storytelling and creasing creativity for pre elementary children and storytelling cause increasing initiative expansion of ideas.
Originality/ value: The purpose of this research is show storytelling affect on increase children creativity and this research enforce on the role of public library on the children creativity of future generation.
