Effects of antioxidants in the prevention of noise induced hearing loss

Exposure to loud noise can evoke the formation of free radicals. An increase in free radicals production have an important role in noise induced hearing loss.
Material & After searching the articles from 2000 up to now, which published in the scope of antioxidants and noise induce hearing loss, 73 relevant articles found and 24 articles were selected.
Antioxidant can detoxify and attenuate free radicals. This role of antioxidants in attenuating hearing loss has been the subject of much recent interest.
Considerable research has been aimed at investigating antioxidants to prevent the onset or progression of noise induce hearing loss. This novel strategy may be considered by otolaryngologists and audiologists and offers potential to therapeutic targets.
