Positive thinking and its impediments in the Quran and Hadith approach

Abstract:
Positive thinking is an optimistic and hopeful attitude to life where one dwells on the appealing, clear and delightful aspects of his life, avoids hopelessness and escape inappropriate and destructive feelings. This way of looking at things has indeed its great substantial impacts on one’s life. A great number of books, though, have been written on the subject but a few have addressed the question from an Islamic perspective. Thus, the article begins with general remarks on positive thinking and restudies the affirmative verses of the Quran and Hadith literature on positive thinking. Like every other concept, positive thinking can also run counter to religious teachings which they are termed as pathology of positive thinking. The article, almost relying on religious texts, has briefly introduced the concept and pathologies of positive-thinking. It has, however, mainly embarked on the impediments of positive-thinking that prevent man from optimism.
